Book Review: The Trouble With Tony – Eli Easton

The Trouble With Tony[Book 1 of Sex in Seattle Series]

I totally enjoyed reading this book. After reading two good books by Eli Easton over the holidays, this didn’t come as a surprise.

Seattle P.I. Tony DeMarco is out to solve a murder case of a young woman when he poses as a patient in a Seattle sex clinic where the victim was getting therapy from hot ex-army doctor Dr. Jack Halloran. Upon their first meeting, Tony couldn’t help his attraction and easily figured that the doctor was innocent. But first, he’s got to prove Jack’s innocence before pursuing their seemingly mutual attraction.

I loved how fast paced the story was and how utterly adorable Tony is. I loved when an author does not find the need to resort to a lot of drama to conclude a seemingly complicated plot. It’s always nice when they know how to weave the story well into the development of each character. Here, Eli Easton has proven once again her ability to create loveable characters with a story that easily captivates its readers.

Book Review: Gabriel’s Fall – Sandrine Gasq-Dion

Gabriel's FallGabriel’s Fall is a short story preceded by Second Time Around but can be read as a standalone. This story is about the ultimate sacrifice for love. I read this after reading Second Time Around featuring the character of Maverick and Ronin – try reading their story first before this one to easily recognize the secondary characters and the whole feel of the accompanying story.

This time though, angel Gabriel [not THAT Gabriel ^_^] found himself falling for his charge Luke. [Gabriel was the twink angel] in Second Time Around. It was a beautiful story that speaks volume about true love.

I dunno why I’m so into “angels” story now but I just loved me some HEA with these heavenly creatures. It’s  sure gonna be a happy ending after all right? Once again, Sandrine-Gasq-Dion weaved a beautiful novella that perfectly resonates with the whole feel of the, shall I say series or accompanying books? Either way, this one totally made me smile all throughout.

Book Review: Second Time Around – Sandrine Gasq-Dion

Second Time AroundIt’s always nice reading a feel good story that leaves you smiling from ear to ear long after turning its last page. Second Time Around is a short story that tells the story of love lost and love found.

Ronin Eastland lost his partner of 12 years in a drunken driving accident. Truly heartbroken and devastated, he found himself slowly deteriorating determined to follow the love of his life.

Marverick Holliday wasn’t supposed to die just yet – he still got a whole life to spend with Ronin. The twink looking angel told him that he could go back to Ronin but he won’t remember who he was in previous life.

And there’s Maverick Cruise, an ER doctor who winds up treating Ronin Eastand. For some reason, Maverick instantly felt drawn to the handsome widower.

Will they ever reunite again? Is their love strong enough to recognize each other?

Interesting plot yeah? I mean, yes it’s totally cliché and so chick-litish but c’mon – you gotta love a well-written romantic fantasy every now and then. I know I do. It’s a short read but is very satisfying. I loved the whole soulmate thingy and the heaven / angel’s angle was pretty nice. The twink angel was pretty funny though. Sandrine Gasq-Dion is one fine story-teller and if you’re in the mood for some good reading – this one’s definitely for you.

Meet The Contestants of Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 9 (2015)

AuNTM 2015We fans of Top Model down under are up for a new cycle this year [the ninth season!] – At least over a year after Melissa Juratowitch won the series in 2013. Jennifer Hawkins will be returning as the presenter and a permanent judge along with Alex Perry and Didier Cohen.

Of course we’ve been hearing press releases about the guest judges this cycle which includes Top Model creator herself Tyra Banks, original supermodel Linda Evangelista, Jean Paul Gaultier and a lot more! This is sure to be an exciting summer for said series that lost the incomparable Charlotte Dawson last year. I’d surely miss her blunt honesty in the show and loved the idea that the producer didn’t decide to replace her chair so soon but went to having guest judges instead.

Without further ado, let’s meet this year’s girls to compete towards becoming Australia’s Next Top Model.

THIRDS Update: Charlie Cochet’s Rise & Fall Book Cover Reveal!

Today’s  special for all fans of Charlie Cochet’s THIRDS series because the cover of the highly anticipated fourth book in the series was finally revealed! I loved the cover designed by L.C. Chase and cannot wait to read the book with an expected publication on February 2, 2014!

The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

Here’s the blurb via Charlie’s website

After an attack by the Coalition leaves THIRDS Team Leader Sloane Brodie critically injured, agent Dexter J. Daley swears to make Beck Hogan pay for what he’s done. But Dex’s plans for retribution are short-lived. With Ash still on leave with his own injuries, Sloane in the hospital, and Destructive Delta in the Coalition’s crosshairs, Lieutenant Sparks isn’t taking any chances. Dex’s team is pulled from the case, with the investigation handed to Team Leader Sebastian Hobbs. Dex refuses to stand by while another team goes after Hogan, and decides to put his old HPF detective skills to work to find Hogan before Theta Destructive, no matter the cost.

With a lengthy and painful recovery ahead of him, the last thing Sloane needs is his partner out scouring the city, especially when the lies—however well intentioned—begin to spiral out of control. Sloane is all too familiar with the desire to retaliate, but some things are more important, like the man who’s pledged to stand beside him. As Dex starts down a dark path, it’s up to Sloane to show him what’s at stake, and finally put a name to what’s in his heart.

If you haven’t heard about the series or have heard of it but haven’t had the time to read it: You can get copies on the link below.

Pre-order RISE & FALL HERE as well as the rest of the series!

MJ Lastimosa

I don’t usually brag like this about our beauty pageant delegates but this picture simply cemented Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa as one of the girls to watch out for at the upcoming Miss Universe pageant in Doral, Miami this month! Here’s To A Great 2015!!!

It’s the dawn of the new year and another time to make some changes and be the better version of ourselves!

73861_1552111040140_6198964_n

I’ve tons of New Year’s Resolution but my priority is to take better care of my health. I realized that I’m not getting any younger so I’ve to make a lot of adjustments with my diet and lifestyle.

I’d also try to get into sports  – I loved watching football and play with my brother Nelson every once in a while but I’m planning to take on running. 🙂 Maybe complete a marathon before my birthday this year?

a couple of years ago when I was still a member of our local gym. Gah! I also need to hit the gym soon!!!!!

a couple of years ago when I was still a member of our local gym. Gah! I also need to hit the gym soon!!!!!

I’m also keen on continuing my traveling! I think 2015 would be a great year to see tons of places again. 🙂

nvs2I’ve been busy reading tons of stuff over the course of the last year and I ought to continue that habit. (I’ve read 335 titles in 2014)  I think it helps me clear my mind a lot and somehow [cheesy alert] relaxes my soul.

Books

Okay, I’ll stop blabbing now but lemme tell you at last that I’d still continue to blog anything I’m interested with to share with you guys. So there, I just wanna wish you guys a great and happy 2015!!!! Yay!!!

It’s All About The Bass This Year – The Best Covers Of Meghan Trainor’s Hit Song!

Okay, so I was lazing around slothfully over the holidays and have been listening to tons of music having no access online from where I was and got these versions from my younger niece covers of Meghan Trainor’s hit song All About The Bass – which as most of you probably know is one of the most controversial songs this year.Meghan

Personally, I just thought that it’s a real fun song. I loved its old school vibe, the vocal was okay – [I’m no singer so ignore me] and the point of this post [LOL] is to share my favorite covers of said song – my top five for that matter.

First, here’s the original song with its official music video.

No. 5  AutumnMusic – Autumn I loved these two!!! I love the raw rendition! No auto-tune, just their natural untouched voices.

No. 4 Nicole Cross – I loved her voice!!! She has this raspy rockstar-ish tone! ya’ll should listen to her version.

No.3 Tanner Patrick – I loved the clarity of his voice though the last part was a bit distracting but overall very pleasant

Get this on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/all-about-that-bass-single/id921979321

No.2 Tiffany Alvord featuring Tevin – I could listen to this cover all day! Oh, and that quirky and corny music video made it even better. LOL

Get this on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/all-about-that-bass-single/id923475598

No. 1 Home Free Vocal Band – I’m all for country boys working it!!!! This is my number 1 cover of said song online!!! It’s perfection!!!

Enjoy listening you guys! Happy New Year Ya’ll!

Book Review: Tattoos & Teacups – Anna Martin

Tattoos & TeacupsI loved the simplicity of this story. Both MC’s characterizations are utterly realistic and the story from the get-go just flowed easily with an endearing conclusion.

Robert McKinnon left his native Scotland to move to America when he was a teenager. Sixteen years later, Robert who is now a college professor still hasn’t settled physically and emotionally. His routine went berserk when Chris Ford came into his life. Covered with tattoos and full of exuberance, the young musician put some colors into Robert’s rather bleak existence. Even though he’s not expecting to find an emotional connection with someone a decade younger than him, Robert find himself easily drawn to Chris. This connection may very well be what he’s been looking for so long – a burst of life and love.

When I read this the first time, I didn’t really get Robert’s drift. I thought his narration was rather painfully dragging the story down. But then I read the second half of it and fell in love with both characters. It was an easy relationship for them and both are truly charming. I decided to reread it from the start and I decided that the tone of the book was intentionally slow. It gave the book a stronger emotional impact and I really do appreciate how each character [the couple along with the secondary characters] took a spotlight of their own in the process. I don’t what’s with this book that made me reread it right away and fell for Robert and Chris. They have this magnetic chemistry in them and they’re just so easy to like! I think that’s what’s so good about a romance book – you get to appreciate both couple even through their imperfections. There’s an emotional connection between them and the readers and I liked that in my books. It made me feel that somewhere, somehow – someone like them actually exists. Tattoos & Teacups is one book I’d always keep rereading to feel good about myself whenever I feel melancholic about life.
