Dexter and Sloane Daley have worked as TIN Operatives for three years now. Their next big assignment is to retrieve a virus that mutates a human’s gene to that of a Therian. And it may just be their most critical and dangerous mission to date.
I’m a big fan of the THIRDS series, and I’m glad that this first book from its spin-off series, TIN, has finally come out! Gone But Not Forgotten isn’t THIRDS. It’s very different from that series, even though the main protagonists are the same. This first book is more serious, way darker, and lacks the humor we’ve gotten used to, mainly from Dex’s character. I love that Dex and Sloane are very much in love, and their bond is stronger than ever. We’ve seen Dex’s evolution from the THIRDS series, and the manifestation of that is even more prominent here. I thought it was exciting to imagine what Dex’s final evolution/form would be.
I’ve some concerns about this book, though. There was a trigger warning at the beginning for kidnapping, sexual abuse, and trafficking, which are very much on-page. That surprised me. I mean, am I reading a Charlie Cochet novel? The sex scene with other Therians around just doesn’t feel right for me. It was too graphic and uncomfortable to read. Another thing is the whole undercover stuff. I mean, I shouldn’t be wondering where this and that guy came from, given the nature of what they do, but it’s unnerving for characters to just pop up out of nowhere.
Considering the issues I stated above, it’s still a good read, but I am not sure If I would be that keen to follow this series, the way I was so crazy about the THIRDS series. I understand that this is a different series, but this is still part of the THIRDS universe, so hopefully, there’s a way to incorporate that fun-ness of that series here.

Since it’s my birthday month, I thought I’d share with you guys some of the books I’m looking forward to get a hold of this month. Without further ado, here’s are my top picks in no particular order!
Sleight of Hand (The Kings: Wild Cards, #3) by Charlie Cochet
Blurb: Former Special Forces Green Beret, Sacha “Joker” Wilder, is well-versed on the subject of demolitions. As a silent partner of Four Kings Security, Joker spends his days working alongside his brothers-in-arms and his best boy, Chip—a bomb-sniffing Belgian Malinois with sass. Years of military and private security experience have prepared Joker for almost anything, except the explosive attraction between him and Giovanni Galanos.
When Gio returns from his travels abroad, everyone is charmed by the handsome billionaire philanthropist, but in Joker’s experience, anyone who’s too good to be true usually is. Gio is hiding something, but the more time Joker spends around Gio, the more his walls start crumbling, leaving him exposed and at risk of losing his heart, something he swore he would never do. Love is for suckers, and that’s not him.
For years Gio has dedicated his life to his charity work, helping people around the globe, but when things go horribly wrong during one particular trip, Gio decides it’s time to come home for good. The desire for family, and a certain ex-Green Beret with a chip on his shoulder, has Gio eager to restart his life Stateside. For all of Sacha’s blustering and griping, no one makes Gio feel safer. If only Sacha could see how right they are for each other.
Danger lurks in the shadows as someone sets their sights on Gio, and secrets are forced into the light. If Gio and Joker are to have any kind of future together, they’ll have to face difficult truths, because where love is concerned, it’ll take more than sleight of hand to make things work.
The Kings: Wild Cards series is a spin-off of the Four Kings Security series.
Love Springs Eternal (The Beacon Hill Sorcerer #5) by S.J. Himes
Blurb: Apprenticed to the infamous Necromancer of Boston, Daniel Macavoy has seen a lot of upheaval in his life since that fateful day. Rescued from an abusive father and the monster he was once enslaved by, Daniel has struggled with every trauma that scarred his heart and mind.
Yet with the love and support of his found family, Daniel has become stronger than he ever imagined. A capable sorcerer, he’s been entrusted with the ancestral family seat of the Salvatores, the legendary site of the Massacre, the culmination of the centuries long Blood Wars between the Salvatores and the Macavoys. The huge mansion is a testament to old school magic, high sorcery, and comes with a history almost as impressive as the enigmatic fae warrior who calls the gardens home.
Rory Brennan is immortal. A member of the nearly extinct High Court Sidhe, Rory remembers when humans climbed down from trees and learned to stand upright. His long life has been spent hand in hand with his identical twin, Cian, who happens to be locked in prison, sentenced to a thousand years for heinous crimes committed while Rory slept for centuries in stasis, hovering at the edge of death. Rory wakes to a modern world after his resurrection at the hands of the Necromancer of Boston, only to lose Cian to a mortal prison.
Once worshipped as a god, Rory Brennan is learning what it means to exist in a modern mortal world. Rory finds that for the very first time, true love has found its way into his immortal heart.
Daniel and Rory grow closer, love springing to life in the narrowing space between them. Daniel has concerns about Cian, the serial killer twin brother of the man he loves, and the repeated attempts of strangers trying to break into the Mansion. He’s got no idea what these strangers are after, and Rory is certain that Cian is in ever-growing danger locked up in Blackguard Prison.
With the danger increasing from all sides, Daniel and Rory struggle to balance surviving with falling in love. A dragon with a growth spurt isn’t helping matters, and his mentor’s watchful eye makes things both more awkward and potentially lethal.
LOVE SPRINGS ETERNAL is the fifth book in the bestselling Beacon Hill Sorcerer series and should not be read as a standalone.

The End Zone (Atlanta Lightning, #2) by Riley Hart
Jeremy Seeing my best friend West, happy with his fiancé opened my eyes to things I’ve been missing in my own marriage. My divorce, which was amicable, followed. Strangely, at West’s wedding, I find myself confiding in Darren, the straight, confirmed bachelor and star quarterback of the Atlanta Lightning. Darren is a full-steam-ahead kind of guy, and one talk leads to hanging out, swapping phone numbers, and pranking West and Anson while they’re on their honeymoon. When I head back to California, I expect our chats to end, but I couldn’t be more wrong.
Darren I still can’t say how it happened, how a random decision to strike up a conversation with Jeremy turned into…whatever this is. All I know is, months later, my days aren’t complete until we tell each other good night. Whether it’s on our calls or when he flies to Atlanta, we talk about everything, lying awake together half the night. Jeremy’s got me feeling…different. If it was just my newly discovered bisexuality, that’d be one thing. I’m not one to stress about being into a man for the first time. It’s the other stuff, the way he makes my pulse race and my heart swell, that’s throwing me for a loop.
I didn’t think I was made for relationships, thought something inside me was broken, but I want it all with him. Except, it feels like as soon as we make it past one obstacle, there’s an even bigger one waiting for us. We just have to keep our heads in the game and our eyes on the prize, to make it to the end zone, before one last tackle takes us down for good.
There’s actually a lot of releases this month, but they’re mostly part of a series which I have not read or didn’t like that much so here are my current list now!
This was a cute little read. There’s this cute world building, almost like a cutesy version of Once Upon A Time but where there is a fairy tale world and the real life merging. Did I say cute? lol Okay, so it’s just over a hundred pages, with Owin, an ocelot shifter and his assigned bodyguard Grimm, a wolf-shifter exchanging banter all throughout the story.
At first, I was just annoyed with Owin’s acting like a little diva towards Grimm every now and then but I appreciate his growth over the course of his whole ‘quest’ – something that he needs to fulfill to show his worth as one of the crowned Princes of this Shifter World led by the naughty king of all shifters, Alarick.
What I loved most about the story is that it’s cute and quick. Initially Owin and Grimm’s banter felt a bit too much but since everything feels like happening simultaneously, there’s no room to overthink it. It isn’t as memorable as the other stories and characters from the author but I guess, not everything is on THIRDSlevel.
I do love the epilogue though. It was sweet and funny. I’d still recommend this one for some light and fun reading and I’d most likely be reading the next story in the series.

I’ve read this upon its release last month and have only gotten to writing a review as we speak! Sorry, Charlie – I’ve been so busy!
Y’all know I’m the biggest fan of Dex and Sloane and this final installment of the THIRDS series is a bit nostalgic in a way because one of my favorite couples will be embarking on a new chapter and new series for that matter which I believe is slated in 2019 (OMG! So long!)
Anyway, before I get sidetrack (I’m definitely writing freestyle right now so bear with what I am about to post in a bit and what you’re about to read haha!) – Okay, as much as I loved Charlie and the guys – I’ve to say that this isn’t my favorite book in the series. Don’t get me wrong, I still loved it but I was maybe hoping for lesser drama! But what can I do? It’s the finale so it was expected. I was just dead worried the whole time that the wedding will not be happening at all. I swear, I was ready to stalk Charlie on social media. LOL
The thing that bothers me a bit here is the disconnect I felt with most of the characters here. It’s like, we’re all just waiting for the big day to happen but lo and behold – drama unfolds! Ugh! Sometimes, I just want them to mellow for a bit!
Okay, perhaps I’m getting a bit carried away now since it’s 2:40 in the morning from where I am. It was still an awesome read overall. I’d recommend it to fans of the series for now because it’s definitely not stand alone!

Characters: Toka, Rayner
Blurb: Foxling Toka has served the Soldati king for centuries, and now he attends to the kingdom’s cherished Soldati prince. It’s a position of honor, and as Toka helps the once-human prince adapt to their magical realm, he finds joy in their friendship. He also grows bolder in his encounters with Rayner, Soldati warrior and the king’s second. But the laws are clear: servants and Soldati are not permitted to mate. It doesn’t matter that Toka lost his heart to the dashing cad long ago.
Rayner never imagined he would fall in love with a servant, but the clever and beautiful foxling has ensnared him, and he resents the regulations keeping them apart. When an arrogant and spiteful king visits from a neighboring realm, Rayner is in danger of losing everything. But Soldati warriors don’t surrender, and he intends to fight all the harder to keep Toka where he belongs—in Rayner’s arms.
The second installment of The Soldati Hearts isn’t as strong as The Soldati Prince. I loved Toka – a foxling whose family has served the Soldati King for ages – in the first book and I loved him here but there’s just something missing with the story for me to connect well with his character.
Rayner, the second in command of the King of Soldati was also a bit of a drag here. I thought Riley and Khalon made it a more interesting read although I’ve to say that Khalon seriously got on my nerves. His old school politics thinking was just disgustingly stupid that he let poor Toka be dragged by that stupid Trump-like king whose name I couldn’t even remember.
Overall, I thought it was bit rushed and the conflict was a bit cliché. I’m not sure I’m excited with the next pairing.

Characters: Riley Murrough, Khalon
While living an ordinary and rather boring life, Riley soons learns that he is mated to a shape-shifter king from a magical realm. Khalon, the arrogant Soldati king isn’t happy that he’s mated to a powerless human. The feeling so happens to be mutual so they decided to see a priestess to have their bond reversed.
I got to read the second edition of this novella which was first published by JCP Books and was informed that it was a lot longer. I don’t know if there were any changes in it but I absolutely loved this universe and I especially loved Riley’s character.
Riley is absolutely adorable who kind of reminds me of Dex! I’m afraid I’ve set Dexter J. Daley (from the THIRDS series) as my Charlie Cochet’s standard of her main characters.
I also loved the slow building of their camaraderie which then grew into something more. I loved that little twist at the end because it finally made me like Khalon. I also loved the secondary characters and I cannot wait to read Toka’s story!
Overall, it’s another greay story from Charlie in yet another fantastic universe.

THIRDS agent Dexter J. Daley can’t wait to marry his fiancé, Team Leader Sloane Brodie, but first he’s looking forward to celebrating his bachelor party—which he intends to be a shenanigans-free evening of getting his groove on with family and friends. Of course events don’t work out as planned, but for Dex that’s nothing new. One thing is for sure, dodging drug dealers and hired thugs amid booze, dancing—and even a bear costume—will guarantee it’s a night Dex will never forget. Now he just needs to survive all the fun. *** Enjoy this bonus story from the THIRDS universe. These events occur between Darkest Hour Before Dawn and Tried & True in the series timeline. While reading this story would enhance your experience of the THIRDS series, it is not necessary to read before Tried & True.
Oh! This is absolutely adorable in every level and a bit sinister for some reason. If you’re a fan of the series, you may already know that the THIRDS series is one novel away from its final installment so this bonus story before the last book is a very much needed read pre-TIN series!
It’s Dex’s bachelor party and you know that if Dex is involved, a slew of troubles follows him!
This is very short but like what I’ve mentioned, very adorable, sweet and just a whole lot of feels because not only Sloane and Dex are bonded by their DNA, but also how in sync they are with each other’s feelings. I just hope that they get to marry first before the start of the TIN series! I cannot wait to read the last installment of this beloved series and this little novella just made me all the more excited!

Characters: Sebastian Hobbs, Hudson Colbourn
THIRDS Team Leader Sebastian Hobbs and Chief Medical Examiner Hudson Colbourn are as much in love now as they were nearly seven years ago when a tragic event on the job destroyed their relationship. The two drift together only to be pulled apart time and time again. When Hudson draws the interest of dangerous enemies, both within and outside the organization, Seb wants nothing more than to protect the man who still means everything to him.
As life and death events, an uncertain future, and startling truths draw Hudson and Seb to each other yet again, they must make a choice: trust their love and take strength from what they share, or lose what matters most for good this time.
This is another of my backlogged reviews from the THIRDS series so here is it.
I am very surprised with this one. I wasn’t a big fan of the Hobbs siblings except for Ethan from the very start so I didn’t really expect to enjoy this one as much as I did. I thought Seb was an a-grade a-hole for doing what he did to Hudson but I guess, time really heals all wounds, including a wounded heart.
I loved that we get to see more of Seb’s vulnarability here and why he decided to stay away from Hudson and why Rafe is such an ass to Hudson. Seriously though, I’m still not a fan of the guy. I’m talking about Rafe.
Going back to Hudson and Seb. I loved that there were no unnecessary dramas to their story. It was very straight to the point and who would’ve thought that they will finally do it? I mean, THAT totally surprised me!
And the big reveal at the end was oh-so-satisfying although I’ve already guessed it from the start, it was still very clever!
This is once again, a very enjoyable THIRDS installment!
