Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3 Episode 2 – The Girl With K-POP Fever!

This season’s second episode got all K-POP on us with the girls posing in groups trying to outshine each other while donning colorful and vibrant K-pop ensemble.

As for their challenge, the girls did their best to impressed by dancing K-POP style which consequently won by the trio of Aimee Bradshaw, Franchesca Lagua and Melissa Tan.

During the photoshoot, the girls were group into four where they will be posing as Korean Pop singers. Pretty neat concept If I may say but the end result – not really digging them but I gotta say Melissa’s group totally nailed this shoot!!! Special mention to Melissa – she’s bringing that K-POP attitude in the pose! Just amazing!!!

Melissa Gani and Celine

Melissa Gani and Celine

Melissa – damn girl. Winner potential! Not gonna complain if I’ll see here in the final four this early in the competition!
Gani – oohhchow! Beautiful Gani is beautiful!
Celine – Not a fan of her face here but as a whole – she’s totally complementing Gani and Melissa.

Loretta, Barbara, Aimee

Loretta, Barbara, Aimee

Loretta – She’s really working it in her pose but her face does not really work for me here.
Barbara – Too studied for me but no one can deny how pretty Barbara is.
Aimee – I loved Aimee here and I don’t understand why she got a very low score.

Amanda, Franchesca, Monika

Amanda, Franchesca, Monika

Amanda – IMO, the worst this week. I can’t at her styling. From top to bottom. Ugh. I think she’s got tons of potentials though so let’s see in the upcoming episodes.
Chesca – Loved her face! Need more neck.
Monika – Not a stand out but she’s okay.

KB, Rani, Tahlia, Kiana

KB, Rani, Tahlia, Kiana

KB – A bit hoochie.
Rani – Very surprising! Loved the face but that thigh is killing me!
Thalia – I’m not a fan of that pose but I loved the attitude!
Kiana – Forgettable but IMO, not the worst.

Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3 – Episode 1 Photoshoot (The Girl In A Spin)

Bias aside, I think Amanda totally killed this shoot! I'm so inlove with it!!!!

Bias aside, I think Amanda totally killed this shoot! I’m so in love with it!!!!

The first episode saw the the fourteen lucky hopefuls settled into their new house. They then meet with host Georgina and fellow judge Joey to evaluate their runway walk which will be part of their very first challenge. As per Top Model outrageous tradition, the girls were asked to walk the runway with a turn table at the end. Barbara (JPN) won the runway challenge although the judges were unanimous about Monika’s runway prowess. (just gotta get that out yeah? home girl and all LOL) Their first shoot was a swimsuit shoot where the youngest contestant Amanda from the Philippines easily stood out from the rest along with Barbara and Monika. Meanwhile, Shareeta (so gorg btw) struggled so much which led to her untimely demise on the show >a bit extreme I know< but I really loved the girl and thought that she’d go so far!!!! Too bad really!!!

Barbara

Barbara

I loved the proportion of her body although I was a bit distracted by the angle of her face. This was a beautiful shot overall.

Monika

Monika

The girl whom the judges thought was born for runway! I couldn’t agree more. Loved this shot but found her waist too thin! Still, that face! that face!

Tahlia

Tahlia

I’m not really a fan of this shot but I loved her face so I’m okay with her position so far.

Gani Ayu

Gani Ayu

Gawd! You gotta love that Asian flavor! Not my favorite shot in the bunch but I so love her oriental beauty!

Aimee

Aimee

I’m not that impressed with her facial expression here but the neck below was almost perfect!

Loretta

Loretta

This one though reminds me of an underwear catalog from Avon – dunnowhy?

KB

KB

This for some reason reminds me so much of a GUESS? ads!

Chesca

Chesca

Gaaahhh. I don’t understand this one. It’s too pedestrian.

Melissa

Melissa

A wee bit cliche yeah? Remember Anamaria from America’s Next Top Model Cycle15?

Kiana

Kiana

I actually loved this shot!! The feel is very “Tropical” and I loved the contour of her body. What drag this down though was her eyes. Too bad really.

Rani

Rani

Not exactly a good shot of her – proportions were off and the styling. Just tsk.

Celine

Celine

Great face. Lacks inspiration.

Shareeta

Shareeta

As much as I loved the beauty of this girl, I just have to agree with the judges. It’s the weakest photo in the bunch. I won’t be blaming it all to Shareeta though. I thought her styling overall does not suit her.

Henry Cavill And The Man from U.N.C.L.E. First Official Trailer!

The Man From UNCLE posterWho isn’t excited about this film? Finally, after Man of Steel we’ll see something from Henry that will show his versatility as an actor. I mean cmon’ he’s great and all but post- Superman-blitz, I was thinking that he’d be stuck as just the Superman which isn’t such a bad thing at all to be honest. And it’s fun to see him getting all down and (dirty?! – nah) and suave for his role as Napoleon Solo and ofcourse, he’s co-starring here with the charming Armie Hammer ^_^

So let me cut this short now and check out the trailer of the film that was released yesterday 🙂

Here are some of the movie stills released by Warner Bros. Pictures

The film is slated for release August 14 of 2015!

Meet The Contestants of Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 9 (2015)

AuNTM 2015We fans of Top Model down under are up for a new cycle this year [the ninth season!] – At least over a year after Melissa Juratowitch won the series in 2013. Jennifer Hawkins will be returning as the presenter and a permanent judge along with Alex Perry and Didier Cohen.

Of course we’ve been hearing press releases about the guest judges this cycle which includes Top Model creator herself Tyra Banks, original supermodel Linda Evangelista, Jean Paul Gaultier and a lot more! This is sure to be an exciting summer for said series that lost the incomparable Charlotte Dawson last year. I’d surely miss her blunt honesty in the show and loved the idea that the producer didn’t decide to replace her chair so soon but went to having guest judges instead.

Without further ado, let’s meet this year’s girls to compete towards becoming Australia’s Next Top Model.

Who’s Your Winner Of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 21?

pictures via cwtv.com

pictures via cwtv.com

Four models remains in the hopes of winning America’s Next Top Model – Cycle 21. Who’s it going to be this time? At last week’s episode, Lenox Tillman almost got the boot when she was pitted in the bottom two over fellow season’s favorite Shei Phan but managed to join the three guys in the finale becoming the last girl standing. Adam Smith snagged the first call out with Keith Carlos and Will Jardell getting the second and third call-outs respectively. Will Lenox be able to make her presence felt over the testosterone-filled two part finale next week? IMO, Lenox is the strongest model amongst the four and she kinda reminds me of Cycle 16 winner Brittany Kline in terms of modeling but I’ve a feeling that a guy will be on top this season – I love Will but my gut feel tells me that it’s either Adam or Keith who’s going to take the top plum. That’s just for me though, but do tell me who you think will win the title of America’s Next Top Model O_o

Miss World 2014 Journey: Philippines’ bet Valerie Weigmann in London…So Far

Miss World 2014 ProfileMiss World Philippines 2014 Valerie Weigmann left for London last November 20 to compete for this year’s edition of Miss World where fellow Filipina Megan Young is the current title holder. Valerie knows that there’s pressure for her to continue the winning streak of the country in the said pageant and it looks like she’s up for the challenge to make it a back-to-back win for the Philippines.

So here’s what she is up to so far in London – the host city this year and also the home base of the Miss World Organization.

Upon arrival… she’s looking mighty pretty here.

With Miss GermanyShe’s roommate with Miss Germany Egzonita Ala – with Valerie being half-German, I’m sure they would really hit it off big time.

And here’s Valerie’s costume for Dances Of The World segment of the pageant. I’m hoping she’d be chosen to perform during the said segment.

And here’s one of the gowns she’ll be wearing for the Formal Evening Gown competition (this maybe for Top Model segment or the World Fashion Designer segment they used to have)

Greater Heights for the Beki Boxer

Beki Boxer

Beki* Boxer is the second of its kind in the primetime TV here in the Philippines. This TV5 offering was the second series to feature a homosexual man as its main lead (the first being the much-talked about My Husband’s Lover). Alwyn Uytingco played the closeted Rocky “Ex-Men” Ponciano who got pushed into the world of Boxing following his father’s footsteps and regain the family’s lost glory.

Beki Boxer still 3Currently in its mid-season, it’s nice to note that the series’ still has consistency, although a bit slow-paced. I also loved the fact that it’s not the usual exaggerated portrayal of gay men here in the country. It’s a comedy series, thus the expectation was obvious. The good thing is it does not resort to slapstick comedy whilst portraying the characters. It was very relatable and was quite realistic. The punchlines were opt, characters colorful, conflicts though cliche are well-executed.

Beki Boxer still 2Noteworthy performances comes from Uytingco himself, Candy Pangilinan (as Rocky’s Mother), Christian Vasques (Rocky’s Dad) and the main antagonist, John Regala.

Beki Boxer still 1

This is definitely one of the quality TV shows airing now on Philippine TV and I’m very glad that such character finally found its way on national TV – airing on prime-time no less! This also goes to show that as conservative as we are as Filipinos – in a place where machismo’s on top of the hierarchy – we’re able to welcome the likes of Beki Boxer (and My Husband’s Lover) which paved the way to having more open and accepting audience who laugh with the character/s and not at the character/s.

Director: Jade Castro, Monti L. Parungao
Cast: Alwyn Uytingco, Joross Gamboa, Vin Abrenica, Candy Pangilinan, Krister Moreno, Albie Casino, Cholo Barretto, Christian Vasquez, John Regala, Onyok Velasco

*Beki is a colloquial word for gay

The Girls Who Should’ve Won The “Top Model” Title

In the midst of the on-going debate regarding the recent announcement of Sheena Liam as the winner of Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 2, I decided to come up with the list of the girls whom I thought should’ve won the “Top Model” title- from the original American version, the Australian franchise and ofcourse, the region-wide Asia’s Next Top Model.

Elyse Sewell [Cycle 1]

Elyse Sewell [Cycle 1]

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 1 – As much as I love Adrianne Curry, re-watching the first cycle over and over again, I’m still very much amazed how they could just let go of Elyse Sewell despite her strength as a model. They even mentioned that she’s the strongest out of the final three. Plus, she produces more amazing photos amongst the finalists. Elyse placed third over-all but for me, she’s still the star of Cycle 1.

Chantal Jones [Cycle 9]

Chantal Jones [Cycle 9]

Cycle 9 was probably one of the strongest cycles in the history of America’s Next Top Model. Contestants like Jenah, Heather, Lisa and Chantal could’ve snatch the title from its winner Saleisha Stowers who’s probably one of the most disappointing winners of the show. Jenah and Chantal could’ve had a battle of the blonds in the finale but Saleisha sneakily appeared  in the picture and took the crown from both girls. Chantal Jones for me delivered way better than Stowers all throughout the season and should’ve won hands down! That girl was flawless!

Raina Hein [Cycle 14]

Raina Hein [Cycle 14]

Raina Hein was clearly the runaway winner of Cycle 14 from the start. She’s tall, she’s young and clearly, the face of the competition. Winner Krista White’s walk may be better but that’s just her edge over Raina – age wise, she’s also at a disadvantage. I still remember how upset I felt for Raina because it was really for her. I’m just really glad that Raina became one of the most successful girls from her cycle.

Samantha Downie [Cycle 4]

Samantha Downie [Cycle 4]

Samantha Downie from Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 4 despite placing third was adjudged Australia’s favourite Top Model. She was bested by runner-up Alexandra Girwood and the eventual winner – and the most controversial winner of the Australian franchise,  Demelza Reveley who bullied her fellow contestant Alamela Rowan. Samantha’s unique look received unanimous praises from the judges and her elimination photo was thought by many fans to be a “sabotaged” from the production’s part.

Jodilly Pendre [Cycle 2]

Jodilly Pendre [Cycle 2]

And finally, from the much-talked about conclusion of Asia’s Next Top Model, let me just say my piece about Sheena winning it all over Jodilly and Katarina. Since the start of the show, I’ve nothing but mostly good praises for Sheena – these are some of my critiques for her that I collated:

*Wow! Sheena is looking so luminous! I love her body movement and I love that I can still see Sheena! Like always, it’s smashing!

*Mighty Sheena is back! Thank you girl for bringing back the old you! This is smashing and you look like a tree nymph here! This is my favorite shot from the bunch! Amazing!

*Sheena’s one of my favorite girls in the competition and I just love her consistency but she’ boring me for two weeks now.

*Sheena’s getting boring and this one’s such a snoozefest!

*Sheena looking fierce yet again! I’m seeing a final four placement for this girl!

*Sheena’s style is so striking that she always manage to stand out. Not this time though

*Sheena’s one of my favorite girls in the competition, like what the judges have mentioned – she knows this is a competition!

*Now, this is fierce baby!! Go Sheena!

Sheena’s a good model but this is a modeling competition gauging the best model amongst the finalists and who’s got what it takes to make it in the real world. All of them has what it takes to make it ofcourse but basing the winner during the final runway and their body of works, it should’ve been Jodilly winning the title. ’nuff said about the issue. That was just my two cents though.

After all, despite these girls placing second or even third – the real victory will be out there. They have to chase it themselves because winning the show was just a title under their belt but it does not guarantee a great career – it’s just a jump-start. They have to work for it and with a bit of luck, they might just get that supermodel status – in time.
