My Top 10 Collections From The Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2012

It was a very successful week for the Philippine fashion as the Holiday 2012 season of the Philippine Fashion Week ended with a bang last Sunday, May 27. The fashion peeps converged to celebrate the Filipino talents with local and international models, celebrities, and fashion personalities gracing the Philippine catwalk! With that being said, after observing a fiercilicious week where Filipino designers showcased their creativity – I would like to share with you my top 10 favorite collections of the season!

10. Bo Parcon presenting at the Design Fusion Collection. It is only a ten-piece collection, but it is enough to captivate the audience with the somehow scale-like print that Parcon so brilliantly incorporated with each garment. And when that tube dress in a coal-like metallic silver line covering the top came out, I thought it was utter perfection!

9. Ulysses King presenting at Menswear Collection. He has been one of my favorite designers for the past couple of seasons. From his reversible jacket and scuba trouser last spring to the aurora borealis pants this season! Ugh. Ulysses, please stop being amazing!

8. Roland Lirio for Premiere A Collection presented by Sony. Don’t you just love it when you see garments that look raw and simple at first glance, yet there’s the hint of intricacy with every bit of detail of the fabric once you look at them closer and longer? Yeah, that is how I would describe Lirio’s creations.

7. Chris Diaz. I am totally in love with Chris’ infusion of color this season, and I thought the Russian fur hats are total genius! Way too slussy (somehow $luttish but still classy – lols). I just love this collection.

6. Arnold Galang. I thought the whole boho vibe of the collection was amazing! I felt that too much fabric got wasted on them, but I thought it’s one of the most cohesive and just perfectly presented collections, from the styling up to the models and, of course, the fantastic finish of each garment.

5. Ezra Santos. Gosh! Ezra is killing me with this collection! It’s too breathtaking! I love how he got all weird-and-gaga with the boxed-decorated headpieces and that out-of-this-world-wired alienesque-like outfit! He’s incredible!

4. Michael Cinco for BENCH. I wish he presented more pieces but this is just again – beyond outstanding.

3. Fanny Serrano for Grand Allure. This is the first time I’ve seen a collection from Miss Fanny Serrano, and I am in total awe! Those dresses are to die for. They’re like the muted version of the dresses from the Capitol. (huh?)

2. Philipp Tampus. I ranked his designs higher than the better-known designers because of the craftsmanship that detailed his distinctive designs. They have over-the-top details and subdued colors that make them look so expensive!

and my top collection from the Holiday 2012 goes to…

1. Chris Jasler. This collection can rival the aesthetics of Marc Jacobs and John Galliano anytime! The sheer genius of the designs and styling was genuinely impeccable! The cuts of those “jail jeans” give you the shot of what the future of fashion will be and the enormity of each minute detail in them is crazy good! Hun’ this is fashion, and Jasler just invented some parts of it for the future!

10th Place goes to my favorite Emma Stone in a fuchsia Giambattista Valli gown and Louis Vuitton jewels! The Help star never fails to impress me and this time, it ain’t the ultimate dress but she made the top 10! Congrats bb…

9th. Possible Best Actress winner and Emma Stone’s co-star  Viola Davis is wearing an emerald green Vera Wang creation and she’s not wearing any weave! Girl.is.rocking.it! Bravo to you Viola!

8th. Jennifer Lopez can do no wrong with this champagne strap Zuhair Murad dress with a peek-a-boo sleeves! Welcome back to the list ‘ma!

7th. The girl with the dragon tattoo Rooney Mara is still as shy as her character and it’s working on the red carpet! I love her in this white sculptured Givenchy Haute Couture floor length gown.

6th. Let’s face it, Angelina’s the closest thing to perfection! In this Versace dress, LaJolie’s A+ power and stature is undeniable!

5th. This is the 2nd year of Jessica on my list and she’s doing really great! She’s nominated tonight for The Help she’s wearing this amazing hand-embroidered Alexander McQueen gown. She looks exsquisite this lady!

4th. George Clooney’s lady love stole the show by showing up in a gold Marchesa gown. Girl look so godly she’s untouchable!

3rd. I’m not really a fan of Michelle William’s pixie hair cut so I tend to ignore her from the past awards season but tonight is different! She’s glowing and channeling Marilyn Monroe’s sheer elegance and beauty in this Louis Vuitton red peplum gown!

2nd.  Milla Jovovich is wearing a one-shoulder Elie  Saab couture with matching retro hair and red lips! This is how a kick-ass red carpet should look like!

Gwyneth Paltrow

2012 Grammy Awards Best Dressed!

My internet connection was giving me headache and almost gave up with this year’s  Best Dressed list but I figured that I cannot ignore these beautiful women who showed up beautifully and all dressed up like winners. (sad though because the day before the Grammys – Feb. 11, the legend, the voice, the music icon WHITNEY HOUSTON left us – such a shame really but the show must go on and so our list)
Wow. I am totally inlove with Guiliana Rancic tonight. This simple little black dress with matching black and gold heels are just a–mazing!

Heiress Paris Hilton in Basil Soda. She maybe irrelevant but she sure looked oh so fine!

Carrie Underwood in Gomez-Garcia. This is a fine number, even with the sparkle I still find it a bit subdued but nevertheless one of the best of the night 🙂

Ann V *speechless* oh, is that a dress? Lucky Maroon 5 guy!

I honestly have no idea why Kate’s here but she’s totally rocking this look! *salivating* and I’m not complaining at all!

Now, this is Adele in perfect elegance wearing Giorgio Armani! Her divine face could pull off anything. Oh, by the way – Congrats for sweeping the all your nominations! Well deserved mama!

Fergie’s wearing this sheer lace gown from the Jean Paul Gaultier couture collection! Fergie never looked this good!

I just totally love what Rihanna was rocking last night! This Giorgio Armani dress totally gave this girl gone bad a super slick-elegant look! I love you RiRi and you know that!

Katy Perry is wearing this dreamy Elie Saab Couture gown. It was the perfect post-divorce look. Mama Kitty working it big time!!!

◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊

I’m not really a big fan of  T.Swift’s fashion sense but she totally blew me away with this Zuhair Murad number! The East-inspired dress is perfection with its dragon embroidery making Swift, oh well – The Ultimate Best Dressed Of The Night!
