Miss World-Philippines 2011

Just late last year, it was announced that the Binibining Pilipinas (Miss Philippines) lost the Miss World franchise to TV and Radio personality Cory Quirino who will now be heading the search for the Miss World-Philippines to represent the country in London for the Miss World 2011 that will be held sometime in November.

This was a very exciting news as Philippine pageant aficionados would buzz like crazy about this new national pageant that is said to be held sometime in September, a short three months before the international pageant. Also, we’ll get to see how this pageant would be different from it’s ex-franchise holder.

Miss World 2010 – Alexandria Mills of USA

Miss World Chairman, Julia Morley

We also gathered reports that Miss World Chairman Julia Morley and reigning Miss World Alexandria Mills of the United States will be visiting the country next week for the contract signing of the franchise agreement and some charity visits. This would be part of Miss Mills’ first international visit to the Asia Pacific countries including Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. So watch out for Miss Morley and the Miss World 2010 visit our beautiful country!

Willow Smith: Too Young, Too Much?

When we look at Willow Smith, it’s like we’re seeing Rihanna when she was young. Then, we’d ask – how old is she again?

Willow is the youngest child of Will Smith and Jada Pinkette Smith. She was born in 2000 and had her film debut in 2007 playing his Dad’s daughter in I Am Legend.

Just last year, Willow launched her music career when she signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label and releasing the up-beat single ‘Whip My Hair” which debut on number 11 at the US Billboard Hot 100. We love the song’s fun lyrics and the beats are very current and you could easily dance to it.

What got us writing this article is the fact that she’s only 10 years old and her fashion is way too disturbing for us. She does look great though but she’s giving us creeps with her extravagant outfits that she’s wearing in her every appearances. – She’s not even a teenager for  Pete’s sake!

(Which reminds us of these spread from Vogue Paris Dec /January 2011 Issue.)

from Vogue Paris.

We find the whole image packaging too much at such a young age. We know that Rihanna is one of her biggest influences whom we really admire when it comes to fashion but having a 10 year old Rihanna is just more than we could handle. We’re hoping she could tone it down a little and find her own style and be young at the same time. Better yet, enjoy her tender age first! Cmon’ girl –you’re still a baby!

We love you Willow and we can’t wait to see you posing for a Vogue cover in the coming years!

Andre Condit is Pure Sin

New Mexico native Andre Condit is fast becoming the new boytoy of fashion with his naughty eyes and sexy smile, one can’t simply ignore this 21 year old Spanish/French eyecandy who’s now in New York booking more jobs since he was featured in models.com.

He is now under Ford Models (thank gawd)

His polaroids kinda reminds us of Robert Pattinson mixed with the genes of Michael Bergin.

We hope to see more from you Andre!

Vogue Philippines?

As of 2010, there are 18 international editions of Vogue, with Turkey as the most recent country to launch last March, with Jessica Stam gracing the cover. I can’t help but think of the day when the Philippines would come out with its very own edition. There is a need to get (purchase) the license to have such a publication, and there are probably tons of factors to consider.

While browsing the net regarding the “acquisition of a franchise,” I learned that the idea of having an African Vogue was rejected by Conde Nast, the publisher of the magazine. That is Africa! And I thought that fashion is even more prominent in Africa than in the Philippines, so I think that it’d be close to impossible to get the franchise of Vogue anytime soon.

An imaginary cover of Vogue Africa by Mario Epanya who’s pushing to get the license to publish the magazine’s African edition.

At the moment, five Asian territories are publishing Vogue. They are Nippon (Japan), China, India, Taiwan, and Korea – something that I do not understand. Philippine fashion magazines are doing pretty well in the country, and our fashion industry is very much alive! I could just imagine Vogue flourishing here! I am still hopeful that we’d be able to see the day of the release of the Philippines’ Vogue maiden issue!

Philippines’ Next Top Model Cycle 2 Petition!

Earlier this year, our wishes were almost granted when ETC by Solar Entertainment was promoting their line up of shows with the inclusion of the Cycle 2 of the Philippines’ Next Top Model but we were disappointed once again because we never saw a glimpse of a cycle to come after the said plug.  It was even rumored that it will be shown after the second season of the Philippine version of Project Runway but to no avail.

It’s been like three years since the first cycle of the Philippines’ version of Next Top Model was aired in the local television and our yearning for another cycle is still very much alive! A lot of speculation over the showing of the next cycle had been discussed over the net through forums and blogs by Filipino Top Model fans who believed that the support for this show is considerable enough for the local TV stations to produce it.

So to help our cause and make the Local TV hear our support to pressure them to produce the Philippines’ Next Top Model Cycle 2, we launch a petition in Facebook, hoping that this very powerful social networking could actually help resurrect this show.

Let’s all Unite for this FIERCE cause!

CLICK PICTURE TO GO TO THE PETITION LINK.

Calling TV 5, Studio 23 and ETC!!!

PLEASE SPREAD THE COMMUNITY.
