Here are the latest from Angela Lehman who recently won the title of Philippines’ Next Top Model.
What can you say about her new do? Are you loving her purple hair? Methinks she looks absolutely smashing! ❤

No matter how predictable this season has been so far, it’s still a surprise that Janny was sent packing after failing to impress the judges during the pen-ultimatum episode of the second cycle of the Philippines’ Next Top Model.
Janny has everything going for her at the start of the episode booking three out of four go-sees resulting to a challenge win rewarding her ten extra frames for their next photoshoot. A photoshoot which host and judge Maggie Wilson will be shooting herself. It was another beauty shoot and the ladies are void of anything but their glow in the dark make up and their ability to still stand out amidst their features being blacked out.
Adela’s photo is a vision in itself! It’s a beautiful make-up editorial that can be seen in any fashion magazines. I won’t be mad if Adela end up winning this whole thing.
I liked Angela’s photo but as Rafa said regarding Ina’s “best shot,” this for me is another art piece and not an editiorial shot. I honestly don’t see that much of a difference between her photo and Ina’s shot..
On a side note: Angela is obviously the ‘chosen one’ and I’d definitely bet my money on her. If TV5 and the other sponsors will have a say on who should win, I’m gonna say it’s a toss-up between her and Adela with the latter having a slighter edge but if it all boils down to the judges – Angela has it in the bag.
Ina’s photo is not the best, IMO, but again – it wasn’t as boring as Janny so I kind of agree with her being in the bottom with Janny. I’m just glad she made it through. She’s one of the strongest models in the house and it’d be such a shame if she don’t get to walk the runway in the finale. Unfortunately for her, it looks like she’s getting the runner-up edit.
During the credits, a sneak peak of the Top 3 was shown with them shooting a Meg Cover with resident judge Rain Dagala. I thought Adela killed the BTS and I’m excited to see the final results. My initial thought is that this isn’t Ina and Angela’s kind of magazine. They’re just too high fashion for Meg. Meg is like Seventeen Magazine and Adela is just perfect for it. So let’s see how this would play out to Adela’s advantage.
Just my thoughts!
Last Week’s episode was a non-elimination one with Janny and Blaise being spared from the chopping block. Angela once again reigned supreme winning another best photo – a photo which she herself chose. It’s brewing to be a battle between Angela and the girls and this week’s episode is no different.
The girls are so fortunate to be guided by the internationally renowned indie film maker, Brillante Mendoza for a Smart OPPO photoshoot!
Janny and Blaise struggled the most during the shoot whilst Angela, Adela and Ina breezed through it like true superstars! I especially loved Ina and it looks like the stage was set for an Angela vs Ina finale. I just cannot see the rest of the girls usurping this two.
At panel, Ina was adjudged to have the best commercial winning an additional P50,000 from Smart. She was followed by Angela, then Adela.
Blaise was criticized for not taking this opportunity seriously whilst Janny for her ability to actually deliver the goods when it matters.
Blaise end up going home this week. It was a deserved one.
Next week’s episode is the most awaited go-see challenge! The final four will battle it out to see who will be booking jobs the most! For their photoshoot, they will be posing alongside Maggie Wilson!!! Yay! Exciting!

First Call Out: Angela
2nd – Ina
3rd – Adela
Bottom Two: Blaise and Janny
Episode 7 saw the farewell of charming Aivie from the show which I absolutely think was a well-deserved elimination. I’ll stop there.
FCO – Angela
2. Janny 3. Ina 4. Blaise
Bottom 2: Adela and Aivie
Okay, so what just happened this episode? I mean, I’m at a loss. First, Ann went home which is a shame, really because she’s got a very big potential to be wonderful but I guess with just seven of them in the competition, an improvement will be too little too late – and unfortunately for Ann, that improvement was lackluster in comparison to the rest of the “models” in the house still in the running towards becoming Philippines’ Next Top Model.
The Challenge this week was something of a pose-off challenge facilitated by top model and Miss World 2003 Top 5 finisher Mafae Yunon-Belasco. Aivie won the challenge because she’s obviously the only one taking it seriously. Lucky for her too because truth be told, she’s the weakest IMO amongst the remaining girls.
And shocking part of the episode was that Sarah decided to pack her bags and go home. No explanation was provided. I mean, what is this show?! Sarah is one of the “better” models in the house but her leaving is kind of bothering me because she could’ve given her spot to someone who really wanted it. I wished they showed why she suddenly decided to quit.
At the photoshoot, the brief is to show their androgynous side posing alongside Top Androgynous model (apparently) Julian Lucas. I thought Adela killed it during the shoot! She was mesmerizing to watch. Janny really looks incredible with her haircut! She’s just so edgy! Just don’t talk too much girl and you’re good! Blaise was just, I dunno bland AF. Inah’s make-up was terrible and her styling! Eeek! What was that? Ann was very painful to watch whilst Angela looks like a top model already. This is the first time that I could recall Angela’s face and I can see a glimmer of something good about her. She’s starting to be the biggest threat for the title and if I’m being honest, I could only see her and Adela winning the whole thing.
This week, they showed the deliberation process. It was just awkward. And then when Inah’s picture was called – Maggie reminded her about her attitude which was puzzling for some perhaps because they never showed anything shady involving her this episode. To remind you guys tho, from what little I could gather from last week, she called model guest Julian Lucas beshy – perhaps he got offended and shit. LOL. Seriously, the editing of this show is so wtf!
First Call Out – Angela! Not really surprising because she looks really good in the picture!
Bottom Two: Aivie and Ann
Eliminated: Ann
Challenge: It was a make-up challenge and the girls were taught techniques on how to do their make-up and after having half of their faces done by professional make-up artist from MAC Cosmetics, the would have to do a night look on the other half of their faces.
Can I just comment how Janny’s new look still leaves me breathless? She looks exceptional. If she doesn’t open her mouth, she’s a total perfection.
Sarah won the challenge which gave her an advantage for their next shoot.
Nonetheless, the rest of them got some gift pack from MAC cosmetics and back at the model house awaits another gift for each girls from SM.
This week’s photoshoot was a beauty shoot where they will be given one word each which they have to channel in their photos with a kitten!
Aivie (Feisty)
I do not find this feisty at all. It looks a bit forced If I’m being honest.
Blaise (Quirky)
During the shoot, I thought Blaise was bringing it but the end-result was a bit of a let-down. I honestly cannot believe that it was her “best” shot.
Ann (Desirable)
Maggie said she needs to work on her eyes but I thought it’s the redeeming factor of the photo. She looks exceptional in it but truth be told, girl need some energy for she is fading.
Ina (Seductive)
After this episode, I can now easily and personally conclude that Ina is the most beautiful aspiring top model this season. Beautiful doesn’t cut it tho. She needs to step it up. This picture isn’t showing seductive at all. It’s saying pretty, almost too pretty.
Angela (Classy)
I think she just looks old.
Adela (Sassy)
Rafa absolutely adore Adela’s picture. I don’t get it. After getting that pink hair – it’s like she suddenly developed a resting bitch face.
Janny (Enchanting)
I actually liked Janny’s picture. I don’t see enchanting here but I just loved her styling. I’m obviously still not over her super awesome makeover!
Sarah (Dainty)
Rafa loves it and I think the judges were all in agreement so it was such a surprise for me that she didn’t get the first call out. Hhmmm…
What’s even more surprising is the lack of deliberation this season. I mean, they should at least show a bit of it. Oh well…
Call-Out Order
First Call Out: Adela
2. Sarah
3. Aivie
4. Angela
5. Janny
6. Ina
7. Blaise
Bottom Two: Ann and Kim.
Eliminated:
Kim (Mysterious)
It’s such a shame that Kim could not deliver an FCO-worthy photo. She’s got all the goods but based on her interview, it felt like she thinks that she’s too good for the show. Kylie and Maggie were already coaching her during the shoot but she was not listening at all. I agree that it is the worst photo in the bunch so her elimination was a deserving one.
I was out of the loop last week because I had to travel south for a little vacay and I’m totally unable to watch said episode. Anyway, I gathered some thoughts from friends and their consensus was that Jan and Adela totally killed this shoot whilst Janelle (she was one of my favorites during the first episode) was apparently a ‘drama queen’* who needs to get the boot pronto and she actually did. Ouch!
Here are the results of the first photoshoot of the season!
This is honestly my favorite shot in the bunch! I still don’t remember Blaise or anything about her but I thought she totally nailed this shoot!
I don’t know what exactly happened but this wasn’t a really flattering shot from Ann. Expectation vs Reality?
Let’s be honest, is this really Janelle’s best shot??? Cmon guys! It’s horrendous! Aarrrggghhh! bye girl!

And the long wait is finally over! So I guess the petition page that I made a couple of years back is totally moot now because tonight, we’ve witnessed the premiere of the second cycle (version?) of the Philippines’ Next Top Model with the tagline – High Street. So is it safe to say that they’re looking for someone that is both high fashion but easily marketable? Who doesn’t tho? lol. Anyway, it’s a glorious premiere! I am so amazed by the sophistication of the whole process. It wasn’t draggy tho the excitement was rather lacking but it’s a really good premiere nonetheless.
It started with host ‘The Amazing Race Asia winner and former Miss Philippines’ Maggie Wilson doing a voiceover of the audition held nationwide then fast-tracked to the 24 ladies who will be facing the other judges hoping to make it through the next round – that panel of judges along with Maggie includes Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP) current president, the cutie Raphael or Rapha Kiefer, stylist and magazine editor Rain Dagala and model mentor and reigning Miss International, Kylie Verzosa.
So, what can I say about the judges? I honestly don’t have an idea who Rapha and Rain are but I loved the dynamics of this panel. They seemed to be getting along so well and I could already see Rain making okray the girls sooner or later and I cannot wait for their (Rain and Rapha!) fangs to come out! Haha! Rapha is a real charmer on TV while it’s a bit difficult to really distinguish who’s actually (should really be) hosting during the judging of the 24 ladies. I mean, Maggie and Kylie are both beautiful but they’re almost interchangeable! But hey, it’s a great panel and I cannot wait for the first judging of the photoshoot next episode!
And now, can we just have a minute for a prayer circle because the gods of fashion seems to be on this show’s side when they picked the 24 ladies to participate in this year’s edition! I’m honestly stunned by the quality of the girls who joined! I mean, majority of them are just beyond! It is very noticeable tho that more than half of the contestants are actually mixed-race so if you’re anal about that aspect – I don’t give a shit.
Based on this episode, I already have my final three but naturally – we have to see in at least the first two to three episode who will actually be impressing the judges (and the ones who will be getting good edits) as the weeks go by…
Let’s meet the final 12! (in order of announcement)
Ann is 20 from Bohol. I loved Ann! Her hair is one of her assets but she needs to step it up because the competition is real fierce. I’m fairly sure she’s already dreading the upcoming make-over. ( She’s also my number 1 amongst the top 3!!!)
Janny from Makati used to be bisexual who is now a lesbian or something like that. She’s actually very intereting! I didn’t expect her to make the cut but she’s got something (a story? the hair?) that is very endearing. Let’s see how far she’d make it. Oh, she also got a cute little son! ❤
Ina’s another strong contender. She’s one of the three dark-skinned girls who made the cut and again, the hair! Gosh! She looks amazing with that hair but I’ve a feeling that they’re gonna change it drastically. We can’t have two Ann’s in the show after all. I think she also said something about hailing from the Bahamas (need to verify this)
Adela is only 19 and was originally from the United Kingdom and has been living in the Philippines for about a year now. She looks really sweet and she’s also very articulate. Not sold on her yet – I’m seeing her getting the boot in the next few episodes.
Jan, 24, Bulacan. I loved her sincerity. I think she’s got great potential but an early exit for her is not that far-fetched.
Kim is 21 years old from Bacolod and she’s done a lot of local modelling stint including different runway and fashion shows in her turf. His father is half-Dutch-half-black-American from Suriname and his mom’s a Filipina. She reminds me so much of Camile from the first cycle of the the original show! Girl is FFIIIEERRCCEEE!
Blaise, 20, Chicago. I honestly didn’t expect her to make the cut but I think she got some big brownie points from model mentor Kylie Verzosa because they share the same advocacy regarding mental health. She’s currently a cheerdancer and a college student at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Angela, 22, Bicol. I loved her interview with the judges but I thought she looks more than her actual age. The show should really do something about that hideous hair!
Shekie, 23, Cagayan de Oro. Shekie is totally on my radar as one of the potential winners! Her dad’s Nigerian and with a Filipina mom of course. I loved her cockiness! It’s rather endearing coming from her! She just need to tone it down at times but she’s good to go for the (finale??) haha! We’ll see.
Aivie, 21, Canada. She’s got a very interesting lineage. Her dad is half-Vietnamese-half-Chinese and she obviously looks more pinay because of her mom. I’m still on the fence about her inclusion but I liked her!
Sarah, 23, Pampanga. My homegirl! I loved her face! She’s definitely this season’s commercial goddess! It’s such a shame that she’s only 5’4″ but I think with that face – she could very well use it to go as far as top 5 and who knows – one nailed beauty shot and uwian na mga bes, may nanalo na! lol
and the final spot goes to…
Janelle, 27, San Diego, California. She’s one of my favorites. She’s obviously the oldest in the bunch and this would always haunt her during the competition. I just hope that she won’t get uber-angsty about it during confessionals. I thought her beauty is very marketable especially here in the Philippines and I cannot wait to see her make-over!
Okay – let me reveal the rest of my initial Top 3 then. Since I’ve already mentioned Ann being my ultimate winner this early, I’ve also have a feeling that Shekie will do really well. Rounding up my top 3 is the lovely Janelle! Gaaahhh! Her face is just perfection – just sayin’.
Special mention to Anna.
As for the their first photoshoot, it would be an underwater shoot where the girls will try their hardest and fiercest while submerged in a big aquarium! Yikes!
What about you guys? What can you say about the premiere? Who are your favorites?
So as early as now, I will be putting a poll on who do you think (on first impression) will most likely make it until the end?

In this pre-finale episode, the girls were yet again handled by Xander Angeles and they were flown to Hong Kong as their international destination. Elf decided to leave the competition due to unforeseen family problems in the Philippines. The shoot they did was a campaign for Breast Cancer awareness. It was a nude photoshoot that shocked the three remaining girls.
