Thank You Queenie Rehman!

The 62nd edition of the Miss World beauty pageant concluded last August 18 when Yun Wenxia bagged the second blue crown for China. 116 girls competed for the coveted crown and one of them is our very own Queenierich Rehman who advanced in the semifinals. I was a bit disappointed though when she didn’t make the final top 7 but I’m still very proud of what she have accomplished because she represented the Philippines with pride and honor. It was just upsetting that she didn’t win the Talent Competition when she has the most impressive presentation. I’m not going to say any negative comments about the pageant because I’m tired of reading a lot of it on different websites. I just want to take this opportunity to thank Miss Rehman for repping us like a boss during the pageant. Even if you didn’t win the crown, you made us all proud Queenie and I think that’s more important than winning – gaining the respect and admiration of everyone! Kudos to you girl for bringin’ it on! luv ya!

Is Queenerich Rehman The One?

In less than 24 hours, a new queen will be hailed as the most beautiful woman in the world, as Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela passes on the blue crown to the new Miss World during tomorrow’s pageant night in Ordos, Mongolia. A total of 116 girls will be competing for the crown, marking the biggest turnout in the pageant’s history

After the impressive runner-up finish of Gwendoline Ruais last year, the Miss World-Philippines organization selected Queenerich Rehman to represent our country in Mongolia. Over the past month leading up to tomorrow’s finals, Rehman’s journey has been impressive, and she is predicted to match or even surpass Gwendoline’s title in 2011. Will she be the first Filipina to win the blue crown for the Philippines?

Here’s wishing Queenerich success on her journey to conquer the world! Go get it, girl!

My Top 10 Collections From The Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2012

It was a very successful week for the Philippine fashion as the Holiday 2012 season of the Philippine Fashion Week ended with a bang last Sunday, May 27. The fashion peeps converged to celebrate the Filipino talents with local and international models, celebrities, and fashion personalities gracing the Philippine catwalk! With that being said, after observing a fiercilicious week where Filipino designers showcased their creativity – I would like to share with you my top 10 favorite collections of the season!

10. Bo Parcon presenting at the Design Fusion Collection. It is only a ten-piece collection, but it is enough to captivate the audience with the somehow scale-like print that Parcon so brilliantly incorporated with each garment. And when that tube dress in a coal-like metallic silver line covering the top came out, I thought it was utter perfection!

9. Ulysses King presenting at Menswear Collection. He has been one of my favorite designers for the past couple of seasons. From his reversible jacket and scuba trouser last spring to the aurora borealis pants this season! Ugh. Ulysses, please stop being amazing!

8. Roland Lirio for Premiere A Collection presented by Sony. Don’t you just love it when you see garments that look raw and simple at first glance, yet there’s the hint of intricacy with every bit of detail of the fabric once you look at them closer and longer? Yeah, that is how I would describe Lirio’s creations.

7. Chris Diaz. I am totally in love with Chris’ infusion of color this season, and I thought the Russian fur hats are total genius! Way too slussy (somehow $luttish but still classy – lols). I just love this collection.

6. Arnold Galang. I thought the whole boho vibe of the collection was amazing! I felt that too much fabric got wasted on them, but I thought it’s one of the most cohesive and just perfectly presented collections, from the styling up to the models and, of course, the fantastic finish of each garment.

5. Ezra Santos. Gosh! Ezra is killing me with this collection! It’s too breathtaking! I love how he got all weird-and-gaga with the boxed-decorated headpieces and that out-of-this-world-wired alienesque-like outfit! He’s incredible!

4. Michael Cinco for BENCH. I wish he presented more pieces but this is just again – beyond outstanding.

3. Fanny Serrano for Grand Allure. This is the first time I’ve seen a collection from Miss Fanny Serrano, and I am in total awe! Those dresses are to die for. They’re like the muted version of the dresses from the Capitol. (huh?)

2. Philipp Tampus. I ranked his designs higher than the better-known designers because of the craftsmanship that detailed his distinctive designs. They have over-the-top details and subdued colors that make them look so expensive!

and my top collection from the Holiday 2012 goes to…

1. Chris Jasler. This collection can rival the aesthetics of Marc Jacobs and John Galliano anytime! The sheer genius of the designs and styling was genuinely impeccable! The cuts of those “jail jeans” give you the shot of what the future of fashion will be and the enormity of each minute detail in them is crazy good! Hun’ this is fashion, and Jasler just invented some parts of it for the future!

2012 Binibining Pilipinas Winners – Up Close and Not Too Personal!

So I was actually late at the venue and the male host Xian Lim just announced the winners of some special awards and right after was the announcement of the top 12 semifinalist. It was an easy call because my favorites were all called except for Jaine Hidalgo. I really wondered why? Hmmm. Anyways, I was very satisfied with most of the candidates answers during the Q and A portion with just a couple of ladies faltering in answering their questions – those were Liezl Alcantara who apparently “misheard” the question and Annalie Forbes who really had “an old fashion choking moment” but was allowed to answer beyond the 30 seconds limit. I thought she handled herself well and was still very poised. It was just surprising that she end-up winning 2nd runner-up with Elaine Kay Moll, the tallest candidate hailed as the first runner-up.

I actually predicted the two main winners correctly, that is Nicole Schmitz for Binibining Pilipinas – International and Katrina Dimaranan for Binibining Pilipinas- Tourism but I was in total awe when they annouced Janine Tugonon’s name as the successor for the Miss Universe – Philippines.  I mean, it was a bit expected since there were rumors that the title was already reserved for her but I really thought that crowd’s favorite MJ Lastimosa outshined her all through out the evening who is also a repeater of the pageant.

Anyways, it’s all good though. Janine still has about eight months to prepare for the Miss Universe and I’m hoping that she’ll represent our country as well as the other two in such a way that we could be proud of!

Good luck Ladies!

2012 Binibining Pilipinas Parade Of Beauties Snippets

Here are some of the pics that I took from this year’s  Binibining Pilipinas Parade Of Beauties that was held last Saturday, March 25 around Araneta Center, Cubao. This time though, the candidates are clad in some elegant one-piece bikinis which I thought are more appropriate compared to previous years where contestants are in two-piece skimpy bikinis. Kudos to the BBP team!
