Starring: Jim Sturgess, Geoffrey Rush, Emily Barclay, Anthony LaPaglia, David Wenham, Ryan Kwanten, Helen Mirren, Sam Neill, Hugo Weaving

I have high expectations for this film and I was just a bit disappointed with its lack of excitement. I love that it’s almost in full 3D and I enjoyed it visually but was ultimately let-down by the whole story. I cannot find the ‘spunk’ that I saw in its trailer. Its graphics are exemplary –the best thing about it is its musical score. It’s not that bad of a film and I would consider watching it for the second time but I still won’t enjoy it as much as my friend Malcolm did. The audience’ consensus was like “It was just an OK film.”

Mutya Datul’s Quest For Miss Supranational 2013!

Mutya Datulphotos c/o Raymond Saldana.

This uber-lovely and humble beauty queen from Isabela province is off to Belarus to compete for this year’s Miss Supranational 2013. Mutya is all set and ready to conquer Europe as she’s aiming to win the very first crown for the country in the said pageant. Last year, 2011 Bb. Pilipinas 1st runner up Elaine Kay Moll clinched the 4th position which is the highest placement of the Philippines in the four year history of Miss Supranational.

Mutya, touted as one of the pre-arrival favorites of pageant fans around the world will also be doing a first in Philippine pageantry – she’ll be using an interpreter. This I think is a good move from Binibining Pilipinas Organization because this could really help Mutya whose only Achilles Heel is speaking in English, other than that – the girl has everything set up for her to win the crown! Quoting Janine Tugonon’s answer last year, “It’s not about knowing how to speak a specific language…”

So here’s to Mutya’s journey to the first crown for the Philippines in Miss Supranational 2013 which will be held in Minsk, Belarus on September 6! Git’ it girl!

2013 Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 8 Episode 5 Photoshoot – Vintage Lingerie in Hyde Park

Melissa dominating the competition!

Melissa is dominating the competition!

A second consecutive first call out is no easy feat especially if you’re the shortest model in the house. Melissa with that face can do no wrong in front of the judges! She’s killing everyone in the competition with this very simple yet striking high fashion shot! You go girl, I am sooo rooting for you!

Jade

Jade

I’m still not a fan of this girl but she’s kinda growing on me. I still don’t like this photo, though.

Duckie

Duckie

Duckie’s strongest competition of Melissa at this point of the competition. With her fierce makeover, Duckie could very well take the lead from Melissa next week!

Shanali

Shanali

I like Shanali and I love that she’s stepped it up this week. She’s improving week after week!

Abbie

Abbie

I don’t see anything special about Abbie yet. She’s like Simone from last cycle. *cringe*

Shannon

Shannon

I’ve a feeling about this girl. I think she’s a top 3 material and could even win the competition. Let’s see if she’d be able to surprise us next week.

Madeline

Madeline

Madeline just looks awfully old. I don’t get her.

Dajana

Dajana

Dajana’s playing it safe and it’s working for her. I think she’s gonna wow us the next time. I’m glad she’s safe this week.

Ashley

Ashley

Alex Perry found her annoying and I think she’s really becoming one. She has the best personality in the house but her photos barely survived the cut this week and I think there’s a big chance that she’d be the next one to get the boot!

Taylah

Taylah

Taylah’s becoming oh so boring. I know what she’s trying to achieve in this shot but girl, you’re no MONTANA. NEXT!

April

April

I didn’t expect that April would leave the competition this early. I thought she’s one of the girls with the most potentials. Plus, she was given the best makeover. Too bad, she couldn’t handle a little pressure.

Bye bb Brooke!

Bye bb Brooke!

It’s really sad that Brooke has to go home right away. She’s one of my favorites from the start and I thought her makeover’s amazing. I hope to see more from you girl..seeyah!

2013 Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 8 Episode 4 Photoshoot – Modern Take On The 50’s Housewife

Melissa has been a favorite since Day 1 and in this episode, she annihilated everyone with this oh-so-fiercing 50's housewife shot!

Resident judge Alex Perry stated: “I reckon that’s probably the best photo I’ve ever seen in this competition – of any series, this is special”  And that is saying something!

Madeline bores me to death to be honest. It's nice enough but I'm not really digging it.

This is Shanali's best shot to date but I still got to see proofs that she'd last until the end.

Duckie reminds me of Viola Davis here. I don't like this pic at all. Sorry boo

Ashley is the only one that can rival Melissa's. She's beautiful here but there's a little bit of disconnect which I couldn't place.

This was Taylah's face when she got FCO last week. Girl, ever heard of versatility?

I actually loving this shot of Brooke. I just wished it was a full body shot though...I'm loving the expression in her eyes!

This is my second favorite shot next to Melissa and Brooke. I wonder why it was called so low!

This isn't a fitting shot for April. It looks cheap, tbh

Dajana's face is just fantastic but she doesn't know how to use it. I hope she get to stay longer for a chance to showcase her beauty!

Wow! This is pretty boring, no wonder she's in the bottom. I thought she should've left the competition this week...ugh. Wrong decision from the judges!

Beating The Heat At Island Waters Resort – Under The Glaring Sun Of Morong, Bataan

We're greeted by that very inviting sea!

We’re greeted by that very inviting sea!

A couple of weeks ago, my travel buddies and I went to a very much recommended place in Morong, Bataan. The travel time takes about 3 hours via Victory Liner Bus to Olongapo City in Zambales. From Olongapo, there’s a mini-bus that took us to Morong, Bataan.

The resort's infinity pool - bluer that blue! haha

The resort’s infinity pool – bluer than blue! – literally! haha

This is simply the right  place for us to linger under the scorching heat of the sun this summer. It’s a newly constructed vacation getaway along the beachfront of Morong. The place boast of  “the only” infinity pool in the shoreline of beach houses and resorts. It is owned by a lovely and uber-accomodating couple who recently purchased the place and named it Island Waters Resort. It has a modern Western architecture infused with Asian designs.

You could stay at their "Nipa Huts" in various sizes good for two to a large group :)

Don't you just love traveling when you're with your the coolest peeps ever???!

Don’t you just love traveling when you’re with  the coolest peeps ever???!

The fun doesn’t stop at their infinity pool. We sang our hearts out at their karaoke and drank at the bar. (I missed taking some pictures here -we may have been too drunk to take some haha) You could also play Beach Volleyball (atleast we tried but we ended up laughing our arse off because no one seemed to know how to play the game! lol), we also rented a boat to take us to the newly built Pawikan Conservation Sanctuary. It’s a nice program of the town people which protects the Pawikan that lay their eggs in the shore of Morong.

Look! Baby Turtles!!!

Look! Baby Turtles!!!

We also did a little snorkeling. I personally do not know how to swim so it was a little nerve-wracking but it was all good since we’re given life vest to save me (us) from drowning haha.

At the conclusion of the three days of swimming, singing, snorkeling, soul-searching haha, laughing and eating – I guess the best thing about this trip is spending it with a great bunch of people and savoring every moment of it.

UPDATES:

Since a lot of peeps were asking about the resort and I loved both my visits here – I decided to post the on-going rates they posted online – you can also check it out in the link above.

The Winner Of Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 1 Is Jessica Amornkuldilok!

She maybe the oldest amongst the contestants of the first cycle of Asia’s Next Top Model but she also proved to be the best as well! Jessica Amornkuldilok of Thailand was hailed the Next Top Model of this side of the world after  impressing the judges week afte week and even Top Model creator herself and former supermodel Tyra Banks during the show’s finale.

Here’s Jessica’s Asia’s Next Top Model photojourney!

Congratulations Jessica!  Make Asia proud!

Asia’s Next Top Model Episode 13 – The Finale Runway Show

TOP 3

Live Blogging:

There are only three girls battling for the title of Asia’s Next Top Model as they went back to Singapore for the final runway show – the last hurdle for the girls in determining the first Asia’s Next Top Model. Guest judge for this episode is none other than the creator of Top Model herself, former supermodel Tyra Banks! I wonder whom she’s gonna like the most?

The world's largest aquarium is the setting of the final runway!!!

The world’s largest aquarium is the setting of the final runway!!!

The runway for the finale is set at the Resort’s World Singapore S.E.A Aquarium which is touted to be the world’s largest aquarium! Whoa!

As for their final challenge, the girls were asked to memorize a script for a Canon commercial. It seemed like too much pressure for the Thai front-runner because she’s been all too quiet with the two girls (Kate and Steph) after last week’s elimination. She mentioned that she’s not at ease in doing commercial stuff. The girl were taken to the CANON headquarters for the commercial. Kate went first but struggled. Jessica was praised by the host who’s at the shoot for delivering better but stated that she was a bit posey. Bottom two queen Stephanie got the nod of Nadya for being so calm in the commercial. Plus points for Stephanie and Jessica ++

As for their final photo shoot, the girls will be doing a shoot for Harper’s Bazaar where they will be heavily featured as part of the winner’s prizes! At the shoot, the girls’ special someone came for a visit – Kate’s brother, Steph’s baby daddy and Jessica’s cute boyfriend! *wink*

Jessica’s breaking down – perhaps feeling too much pressure and feeling that this thing is already within her grasp! Awee.  Kenneth from Harper’s Bazaar clearly loved her! They’re wearing a CHANEL dress and Jessica’s nailing every shot! The other two are just mediocre at best so could this mean that Jessica had this in the bag the entire season? 🙂

The Girls at Final Runway

For the final runway, the girls will be wearing the creations of Singaporean designer Frederick Lee and will walk along America’s Next Top Model Cycle 18,  Sophie Sumner  and the six of the girls eliminated with Tyra Banks watching the show. Tyra was impressed with the three and talked a lot backstage with them.

For the final panel – Kenneth of Harper’s Bazaar, the Storm Models’s agent and Tyra Banks will all be helping in choosing the winner. They preview the girls’ commercial and HB shoot. The judges loved Stephanie’s commercial but not as much as her cover photo for the magazine. Kate’s commercial didn’t impressed the judges plus her catwalk did not get Tyra’s approval. As for Jessica, the judges totally adored her walk, her look and her personality so it’s LOUD and CLEAR and she may actually win the whole thing! The only thing that going against her is her age – at 27, the judges feels that’s it’s a bit late for her to start in the industry. She mentioned that being an orphan no one’s there to support her so she started modeling at around 19. Awwee 😦

and the obvious winner folks is JESSICA! No runner-up was announced! Congrats Jessica!

Anne Frank Shirt – Offensive Or Not?

I’m not very conservative but I somehow find this “Anne Frank – Salute To Freedom” shirt pretty unnerving which is being sold at a local store here in Manila. Aside from the fact that the design’s ugly, the whole use of the imagery was just off. I guess it’s just me but I thought that no creativity was used in the making of this shirt. Looking at it feels all so wrong.

2012 in Review for Paddylast Inc!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 130,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 7 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
