I just finished watching the Week 2 auditions of the 14th series of the X Factor UK today and I have to say that I’m much more impressed with the last week’s hopefuls than this second batch of wannabe popstars.
To be honest, the one whom I thought has the best chance of making it far from this week is French guy Kevin Davy White. He’s got this really big voice and he’s very charismatic! I just loved him!
Rebecca Grace’s rendition of Piece by Piece by Kelly Clarkson is just okay for me. I didn’t feel any connection from her.
Lastly are The Cutkelvins – gosh this siblings are so blessed with the genes department, they are ready to conquer the world. Let’s all be honest with ourselves though – only the girl could really sing. The other two are just mere eye candies.
Oh, and repping the Philippines from Gaga Lord from the first week is an all-male group who call themselves JBK. They have a pretty quick screentime but they’re really good!
The rest, I didn’t really pay much attention to because they’re either not really good, boring or just plain annoying.
The fourteenth season of the The X Factor UK has premiered yesterday and they gave us fans a taste of what we can expect this season. Almost all the hopefuls in the first week of audition made it, or at least almost all of those they’ve shown!
We still have the same panel from last year headed by Simon Cowell with Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh.
Top 3 Auditionees:
Anthony Russell, 27
Anthony has got this very unique voice and a very endearing personality. He was sporting a shiner during his audition and I think the judges just really felt bad for him. That’s not to say he only got pity votes because he’s seriously good! I’m guessing as early as now that he’ll make it to the live show. Nicole will decide his fate this year.
He also stated that he auditioned back in 2007 when he was a cocky 17 years old. Very funny audition because he was so cocky. I don’t think Simon liked him back then.
2. Grace Davies, 20
I think she’s this year’s Caitlyn Vanbeck but with more originality and more likable! Her song Roots really is AMAZING! Have a listen NOW!
3. Sam Black, 27
Another guy under Nicole’s category if he’s not gonna be eliminated first and eventually ends up in a group. He’s really good looking and he’s got a really nice old-school voice. He looks like a starving version of James Morrison but more good looking. I think he’d do well as a solo artist. I’m not sure if he’s the best yet but for now, amongst those whom they’ve shown this first episode – he’s definitely one of the best!
The rest who made it through…
I super adore Gaga Lord! Her big voice is unbelievable! Not sure yet how they would package here if they decide to get her through the overs category in the live show.
Jordan Rabjohn is adorable as fuck and I can already tell that they’re going to put him in a group…
Jack & Joel are a good act but I don’t think they will be THAT marketable. I’m not even sure if Joel can do other things aside from beat boxing and playing the guitar but he’s the likable one in this duo although Jack has a fantastic vocals obviously.
I loved Kayleigh Taylor’s personality and I think she’s really likable but I don’t get her voice yet. I feel like she’s screaming the whole song but that’s just for me tho. Best of luck to her!
Holly Tandy is only 15 people. Yep. She look like a supermodel and sounds okay. I just don’t think she’ there yet. She’s very raw tho and I think the judges saw potentials in her…
The look and sound good but the whole thing is too rehearsed and the second song when Simon asked them to sing a second song sounds like they’re miming…hhmm
Who are your favorites amongst those who auditioned yesterday?

I was lurking around my Liked pages on Facebook and I stumbled upon what seems to be another “fake news” because there’s no way that Troye Sivan was actually in Manila! I mean, there was no publicity, not even a tiny bit of announcement from Troye himself but when pictures started to surface on the net – I was literally beside myself! It’s true!!! Troye was actually in Manila that day – I still have no idea how long he actually stayed here but it’s safe to say that it wasn’t that long!
See that first tweet from the the screen-grab of his twitter page – this article from CNN might be IT. Apparently, Daddy Bean did a campaign shoot with SM Youth’s newest clothing line called SMYTH. Nicely done there SM!
I’m actually ready to go shopping in SM!!! Also, pretty please SM! Bring Troye back in Manila for a concert!!!!!

Seeing Britney Spears in person was by far, the most surreal moment of my life. It was the 15th of June, Thursday, year 2017 at Seeing Britney Spears in person was, by far, the most surreal moment of my life. It was the 15th of June, Thursday, 2017, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Rewind to 1999.
I was a high-school sophomore in the province. This year, I was facing tremendous personal struggles – exploring my sexuality and a family situation that my brain couldn’t comprehend at that time. To alleviate my confusion and depressing thoughts, I turned to music. Back in the day, we only have the radio and television for entertainment. I love music in general, and I have this affinity to American country music since my parents used to play them a lot as I was growing up. The year 1999 was also the year that pop music entered my life. It’s the year when a slew of international female solo acts led by an American teenager who captured the nation and the rest of the world with her debut song that you’d know would be an instant classic.
Britney’s Baby One More Time.
I first heard it on the radio. It was a fun and catchy song. I just loved listening to it, and it got an enormous rotation throughout the Philippine FM radio stations. People are all over it!
Then I saw the video and saw the singer for the first time on MTV Asia. Right there and then, I already liked her. She’s young and is a teenager like me. Also, she’s so damn cute!
She then dropped her succeeding singles, including Sometimes, Crazy, From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart, and Born To Make You Happy, and I knew I was a goner. I’ve also accepted that I was indeed into boys, and Britney Spears’ music inspired me to reconnect with the real me for some reason. I already loved her by this time. I’ve got posters in the room, which I shared with my younger brother and my lovely Mom even bought me a cassette tape of her album. I still have that until now!
Fast Forward to 2011
The Femme Fatale Album Launch in the Philippines.
Roughly around six years ago, I met the beautiful individuals I’ve been talking to online over the years thru Pinoy Exchange’ Pinoys Heart Britney thread. This album launch is where I met fans like me who’ve been admiring Britney since the beginning. It was a lovely event, an exciting one, and meeting people like me who loved her as much as I do is like having another family. This moment was when I realized that the Britney Army is my other family.
2013-2014 My Blackout Years
I’ve had personal struggles and had to take a break from everything in my life, but I’ve kept in touch with what’s been happening in the world – at least a little bit and was glad that Britney keeps on slaying!
2017. Sneaking away to the Philippines.
It was a dream come true not only for me but for the loyal Britney fans. The announcement, just March of this year, took everyone by surprise. It was a hurried announcement and an unexpected one. Everybody couldn’t believe it! Britney is finally coming to perform for her Filipino Army! I was personally petrified for some reason. Is this a dream? Did I finally crack? And as the day of the ticket selling approached, I knew that it was fucking real. I was saving for an overseas trip but knew that I had to prioritize seeing “my” queen! Bye, bye Indochina Trip! Mama is coming home!
THE Day.
I was a wreck on the day of the concert. I was almost hysterical inside and was just way damn nervous. I guess I’m still in shock and couldn’t believe that I was finally about to see her in person. Like flesh and bones, and I’ll be in the same venue WITH her!!!
It was everything I was expecting. Britney didn’t disappoint. The Army’s dream of seeing her perform came true, and it was just EVERYTHING. I didn’t cry upon seeing her while most of my fellow Army struggled to keep it together. I was too ecstatic – almost hysterically thrilled watching her dance her hits away.
She was glorious, and the two decades of waiting for her to visit the country was just oh-so-worth-it. In one of my Instagram posts, I said that I didn’t know what surreal means until I saw her on stage doing her thing. It was a magical experience.

Some people may not understand why we loved Britney so much. They are criticizing her for not singing live and not dancing the way she used to. They said it wasn’t worth the thousands of money we’ve spent on her. That is where they are wrong. Our love for Britney goes beyond simply loving her songs and admiring her dancing skills. Britney is an inspiration to us. Britney unites us. Britney is part of our personal history. She’s a damn good mother and damn good human being!

She’s Britney, Bitch!

Lyrics of Keep Talking
Don’t know what to say when you’re acting way you just bring me down, down
I’m trying to change but you find another way just to bring me down, down
And I know you’re never quitting even if it’s for the sake of us
I’ve had enough Oh, baby
I know better than you keep on fighting but you keep talking, keep talking Every time I try to change the station you just keep talking… keep
I don’t wanna stay in this place It’s written all over my face I can’t take it no more you just keep talking ‘Cause I’m walking away
Drivin’ me insane tryna work out in my brain and you bring me down, down
when things don’t go your way i guess you got to blame for all your life’s turnout
no i said i’ll never leave you but you’re giving me no other choice i’ve had enough
oh, baby
I know better than you keep on fighting but you keep talking, keep talking Every time I try to change the station you just keep talking… keep
I don’t wanna stay in this place It’s written all over my face I can’t take it no more you just keep talking ‘Cause I’m walking away
baby keep on talking with every step i’m driving you out gotta keep on moving ’cause there’s no point in staying around
oh.
Don’t know what to say when you’re acting way you just bring me down, down
I know better than you keep on fighting but you keep talking, keep talking Every time I try to change the station you just keep talking… keep
I don’t wanna stay in this place It’s written all over my face I can’t take it no more you just keep talking ‘Cause I’m walking away
I know better than you keep on fighting but you keep talking, keep talking Every time I try to change the station you just keep talking… keep
I don’t wanna stay in this place It’s written all over my face I can’t take it no more you just keep talking ‘Cause I’m walking away

Troye is currently on his second tour in support of his debut studio album, Blue Neighbourhood. This live of cover of Love Yourself was from the kick-off of said tour at the Vogue Theater in Vancouver.
For my Cover Thursday, I’m featuring one of my all-time favorite songs from Hank Williams which got covered by so many different artists and I just have to tell you that every time I listen to this song, I feel like I want to drink myself to stupor (lol) because it’s just so fucking sad and so fucking beautiful. Hah! And this cover by Seasick Steve is just killing me! It’s artistry at its finest! Enjoy!
