Spencer, Starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana, opens November 17 in Philippine theaters!

Through their social media, Cinema Bravo announced that Spencer starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana, would open in Philippines theaters on November 17, 2021.

Storyline of Spencer:

The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumors of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be profoundly different. SPENCER is an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days.

Since its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival last September, the film has received positive reviews from critics, with particular praise for Stewart’s performance. Stewart is now touted to be the early frontrunner of next year’s Oscar for Best Actress. Spencer is a film by Pablo Larrain, who directed the 2016 Academy Awards nominated film Jackie.

I am excited to watch it! I’ve been a big fan of Stewart for years now, and I am proud of what she’s accomplished over the years working within the indie film industry after her Twilight years. I wanted the film to succeed here, and I hope the cinemas get very strict regarding the number of audience per screening because I still get paranoid with crowds.

ICYMI: After closure for almost two years, select cinemas within the National Capital Region (NCR) and provincial areas are opening. NCR and most of the Philippines are under Alert Level 2 until November 30, which means an increased capacity for businesses and activities, including the opening of theaters!

Official Trailer: Spencer starring Kristen Stewart

Now, this looks absolutely smashing! Kristen looks the part, and she’s definitely channeling Princess Diana in these little snippets of her talking and those facial expressions!

I’ve got a feeling that with all the raves she had been receiving since the film’s premiere in Venice last month, she’s getting that Oscar nod. I’m also curious to see if the BAFTA will also give her a nomination, at least. I cannot wait to watch it!

Review: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1

I have been waiting for the first part of The Twilight Saga that I even read the book (again) for the nth time. After watching it though, I’m not quite sure what to make of what I thought about this film. The trailers that have been release were quite impressive and very exciting that it kinda made me giggle with excitement (oh, yes people…I’m a fan of the franchise!) to see it!

In this film, we’ll see Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and her vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) tying the knot with all the grandeur of a wedding that seems like a ceremony from a fairy tale. It was just way over the top but was beautiful nonetheless. Then, they went to Brazil for their honeymoon where they consummated their forbidden love. In a very strange twist, Edward somehow managed to impregnate Bella and what’s inside her is threatening to kill her and her only chance of survival is to become a vampire herself.

I was expecting a super-good narrative and execution since it was made by Oscar-nominated director Bill Condon but I find it a bit flat, atleast for my taste. It’s comparable to the second installment of the franchise, New Moon that Chris Weitz destroyed but a notch better in my opinion. I feel that the dialogues were just a bit off and the conflicts were crammed to try to stay true to the book (making me hugely disappointed, having read the book myself.)

I am however impressed with the trio (Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner) delivering the best work in the film. I guess that pretty made up my somehow disappointing take on the film. As usual, the soundtrack and its original score are just perfection! If there’s one thing that is consistent with the saga, it has to be its music.

Although I find the film way too safe for a part one of the last installment, I will still recommend it to “twihards” and non-twilight fans alike. It was still an okay film that was “safely” executed and really entertaining at most parts.

Review: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010)

June 30, 2010 @ SM North, Edsa

Ticket Price: P160.00

Director: David Slade

Starring:  Anna Kendrick, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Dakota Fanning, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Kellan Lutz, Kristen Stewart, Michael Welch, Nikki Reed Peter Facinelli, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Bryce Dallas Howard, Cameron Bright, Xavier Samuel, Jodelle Ferland, Sarah Clarke, Catalina Sandino

I never thought that I’d like Eclipse this much after Chris Weitz disappointing take on The Twilight Saga: New Moon. I’m ready to be disappointed with yet again another director David Slade who previously did 30 Days of Night . I am quite surprised because the film was well made and it didn’t disappoint at all– I’d say that it’s the best Twilight installment to date (with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn coming in two parts in the next couple of years.)

The film was full with enigmatic scenes that allowed the audience to feel the experiences of each characters.

Screenplay-wise, I commend Melissa Rosenberg for keeping up much of the book’s details. I love the fight scene between the newborns (newly created vamps) and the alliance between the Cullen’s and the wolf pack. I thought it was pretty neat and that “about 10 minutes” scene was one of the film’s highlights.

Victoria, now played by Bryce Dallas Howard looks kinda weird to me. She kinda look like an old vampire –not even in a pretty kind of way. I wish they kept Rachelle Lefevre for the part but it isn’t much of a distraction though, I mean I think everyone did well in the movie.

The flashback scenes are a great watch as well. (Rosalie and Jasper’s past)

Also, I would like to comment about Seth Clearwater played by Boo Boo Stewart — what’s up with the face? He’s not very attractive on those shots (during the council meeting when Jacob introduced him to Bella — you see, Seth would get a lot of scenes in the final film based on the book). It’s probably the lighting or the make up but I hope they could’ve gotten a better looking kid to play the role. (he’s okay in pictures but bad in motion —wish they could do something about it on Breaking Dawn)

Jacob (Taylor Lautner ) was probably on the screen for like 75% of the film and I’m wondering if I’m the only one who doesn’t get his acting very much on this film — I mean, it was a-ok but it’s getting kind of overbearing at times.

Bella ( Kristen Stewart ) was at her best– playing someone who is torn between two lovers makes her look more vulnerably appealing! And Edward ( Robert Pattinson ) complimented Kristen that much that everyone in the audience gasp when he proposed marriage.

I’d give this installment an 8.5/10 for a very well execution and I’d recommend a second viewing!

Review: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009)

I’d to give credits to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson for still giving us that great chemistry we came to love in Twilight. It was amazing how their pain as Edward and Bella could look so real. it is not as intense as I expected it to be. I thought that Jacob’s whole werewolf transformation and the introduction of the pack was kinda on a rush.

The Volturi scene, as I quote Aro, is “mesmerizing.” Though there were some changes, I find it to be a very good execution. How I wish, though, that there was a better introduction to them than there is in the book. Overall, the movie was actually good. Thanks to Kristen and Robert for delivering. Just a warning, though, for those who have already read the book: expect some deviation in this film or something that isn’t in the film.

7. Charlize Theron

Like Lawrence, Charlize also wore a white Dior dress which reminds me of the White dress explosion from last year's ceremony. She still pulled if off though and I'm loving her in this dress!

Kristen Stewart was in a very beautiful Reem Acra gown who walked the red carpet in crutches. The actress apparently had her foot cut on glass two days before the big O. With or without the crutches, Kristen is rocking this look effortlessly!

JESSICA CHASTAIN

She may have lost the big prize to Jennifer Lawrence but she clearly outstaged the Best Actress winner at the red carpet. Jessica was looking oh-so-good in a sequined Armani Prive nude gown. This girl's flawless! She's definitely my ultimate best dressed!

The Oscar’s Fashion 2010 Edition

The BESTest!

Actress Rachel McAdams is definitely tonight’s big winner on the red carpet wearing Elie Saab creation.

Check this out! JLo never ceased to rock it on the red carpet! she’s wearing an Armani Prive gown.

this is what you call elegance, the 16th time Oscar nominated Meryl Streep wowed everyone with this regal creation of Project Runway alums Chris March.

Kristen Stewart is a first time Oscar attendee rocking a Monique Lhuillier gothic creation!

Kate Winslet can do no wrong with Yves Saint Laurent‘s creation.

FAILED!!!

I cannot for the life of me understand what the rose accent Charlize Theron was wearing on her lumps with her Christian Dior gown.

I love Vera Farmiga in Up In The Air but this Marchesa‘s creation is so over the top and way too busy that you cannot find the best supporting actress nominee.

This Givenchy creation is not just right for Zoe Saldana –there’s something off with it.

First time Best Actress nominee Carey Mulligan didn’t take Vogue’s editor Anna Wintour‘s advise and this was the dreadful results.  I’m lovin’ the Prada dress but what’s with the shoes???

I seriously don’t get the whole look of Amanda Seyfried tonight –it’s all too old fashion. It’s probably because JLo already got the better Armani Prive dress.

SPECIAL CITATION:

actresses who didn’t make it to our “bestest” list but nevertheless gave some glittering lights to the star-studded events

Best Supporting Actress nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal wearing a Dries van Noten creation.

Inglorious Basterds’ Diane Kruger wearing a Chanel dress.

A platinum blonde Cameron Diaz wearing an Oscar de la Renta‘s haute couture creation.

We just gotta love Tinay Fey in this Michael Kors creation.
