I was lurking around my Liked pages on Facebook and I stumbled upon what seems to be another “fake news” because there’s no way that Troye Sivan was actually in Manila! I mean, there was no publicity, not even a tiny bit of announcement from Troye himself but when pictures started to surface on the net – I was literally beside myself! It’s true!!! Troye was actually in Manila that day – I still have no idea how long he actually stayed here but it’s safe to say that it wasn’t that long!
See that first tweet from the the screen-grab of his twitter page – this article from CNN might be IT. Apparently, Daddy Bean did a campaign shoot with SM Youth’s newest clothing line called SMYTH. Nicely done there SM!
I’m actually ready to go shopping in SM!!! Also, pretty please SM! Bring Troye back in Manila for a concert!!!!!

SMYTH will be at the SM Youth section of all branches of The SM Store starting July 24. Follow SM Youth on Instagram and Facebook for more updates.

Characters: Micah Johnson
I was not the biggest fan of Micah Johnson. I didn’t like him when he first appeared in the third book off the Tigers and Devils series but after reading The On-going Reformation of Micah Johnson, I realized that he wasn’t that bad. I was actually excited to read this one but I got hesitant when I’ve read its blurb.
BLURB: On the outside, Micah Johnson seems to have everything. He is proving his worth on the field during his rookie year with his new professional football team, the Fremantle Dockers, but his personal life is a mess. Homesick, three thousand kilometres away from his family and friends on the other side of Australia, Micah isn’t coping. He’s using casual sex, alcohol, and drugs as crutches since he doesn’t feel comfortable approaching his foster family with his problems, and he’s left with nowhere to turn. It isn’t until he experiences a health scare and a friend is rocked by a personal tragedy that Micah realises he does have the strength to succeed at a new life in the West—but he has to learn to ask for help
Overall, I’ve really enjoyed it. I loved that Micah is maturing overtime. He still got a lot to work on especially when dealing with his emotions but I ought to give him a break I guess because he’ still very young after all. I loved that the story arc is very relevant what with different athletes coming out of the closet and bravely enduring the taunts of closed-minded people who still thinks that no gay men could ever play sports. I also adore his friends and family and how supportive they are with his budding career. It was a really good read and another top notch sequel from the author. Fans of the first book won’t be disappointed.

About The Author
Sean Kennedy was born in Melbourne, Australia, but currently lives in the second most isolated city in the world (although there still seems to be conjecture over whether it is actually number one). Living in such deprived circumstances can only affect his writing, which is published by Dreamspinner Press.
Seeing Britney Spears in person was by far, the most surreal moment of my life. It was the 15th of June, Thursday, year 2017 at Seeing Britney Spears in person was, by far, the most surreal moment of my life. It was the 15th of June, Thursday, 2017, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Rewind to 1999.
I was a high-school sophomore in the province. This year, I was facing tremendous personal struggles – exploring my sexuality and a family situation that my brain couldn’t comprehend at that time. To alleviate my confusion and depressing thoughts, I turned to music. Back in the day, we only have the radio and television for entertainment. I love music in general, and I have this affinity to American country music since my parents used to play them a lot as I was growing up. The year 1999 was also the year that pop music entered my life. It’s the year when a slew of international female solo acts led by an American teenager who captured the nation and the rest of the world with her debut song that you’d know would be an instant classic.
Britney’s Baby One More Time.
I first heard it on the radio. It was a fun and catchy song. I just loved listening to it, and it got an enormous rotation throughout the Philippine FM radio stations. People are all over it!
Then I saw the video and saw the singer for the first time on MTV Asia. Right there and then, I already liked her. She’s young and is a teenager like me. Also, she’s so damn cute!
She then dropped her succeeding singles, including Sometimes, Crazy, From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart, and Born To Make You Happy, and I knew I was a goner. I’ve also accepted that I was indeed into boys, and Britney Spears’ music inspired me to reconnect with the real me for some reason. I already loved her by this time. I’ve got posters in the room, which I shared with my younger brother and my lovely Mom even bought me a cassette tape of her album. I still have that until now!
Fast Forward to 2011
The Femme Fatale Album Launch in the Philippines.
Roughly around six years ago, I met the beautiful individuals I’ve been talking to online over the years thru Pinoy Exchange’ Pinoys Heart Britney thread. This album launch is where I met fans like me who’ve been admiring Britney since the beginning. It was a lovely event, an exciting one, and meeting people like me who loved her as much as I do is like having another family. This moment was when I realized that the Britney Army is my other family.
2013-2014 My Blackout Years
I’ve had personal struggles and had to take a break from everything in my life, but I’ve kept in touch with what’s been happening in the world – at least a little bit and was glad that Britney keeps on slaying!
2017. Sneaking away to the Philippines.
It was a dream come true not only for me but for the loyal Britney fans. The announcement, just March of this year, took everyone by surprise. It was a hurried announcement and an unexpected one. Everybody couldn’t believe it! Britney is finally coming to perform for her Filipino Army! I was personally petrified for some reason. Is this a dream? Did I finally crack? And as the day of the ticket selling approached, I knew that it was fucking real. I was saving for an overseas trip but knew that I had to prioritize seeing “my” queen! Bye, bye Indochina Trip! Mama is coming home!
THE Day.
I was a wreck on the day of the concert. I was almost hysterical inside and was just way damn nervous. I guess I’m still in shock and couldn’t believe that I was finally about to see her in person. Like flesh and bones, and I’ll be in the same venue WITH her!!!
It was everything I was expecting. Britney didn’t disappoint. The Army’s dream of seeing her perform came true, and it was just EVERYTHING. I didn’t cry upon seeing her while most of my fellow Army struggled to keep it together. I was too ecstatic – almost hysterically thrilled watching her dance her hits away.
She was glorious, and the two decades of waiting for her to visit the country was just oh-so-worth-it. In one of my Instagram posts, I said that I didn’t know what surreal means until I saw her on stage doing her thing. It was a magical experience.

Some people may not understand why we loved Britney so much. They are criticizing her for not singing live and not dancing the way she used to. They said it wasn’t worth the thousands of money we’ve spent on her. That is where they are wrong. Our love for Britney goes beyond simply loving her songs and admiring her dancing skills. Britney is an inspiration to us. Britney unites us. Britney is part of our personal history. She’s a damn good mother and damn good human being!

She’s Britney, Bitch!
Seeing Britney Spears in person was by far, the most surreal moment of my life.
Thank you Britney Spears! I love you! We love you!

It was a whirlwind finale like the season itself, and like I’ve mentioned from my last few recaps, Angela is the one to beat and basically THE CHOSEN ONE this season so it’s not that surprising that she ended up actually winning it all! She was neck on neck with Adela for the title who has to settle for a runner-up finish with Ina as the third placer.
Seriously, I don’t think there’s much to recap from this episode. The final runway was with SM Women and I thought they all did amazing! There were some mishaps but overall, it was a lovely semi-professional presentation from the three.
I hope the next production will not be as hurried as this and they will be more creative in terms of shoot ideas like the first cycle where they even had an international destination. Truth be told, this was a bit of a downgrade from the very first cycle but I’m still thankful with TV5, SM, SMART and OPPO for reviving this show!
Filipino-Swiss Angela Lehman was adjudged the winner of the Philippines’ Next Top Model Cycle 2 with Adela Marshall and Ina Guerrero placing second and third, respectively.
Lehman, 22 is a newbie in modeling has gotten the most best photos and has never been in the bottom two all throughout the competition. With her win, Angela secured a management contract with TV5, and an SM and Oppo ambassadorship and an overseas trip to Hong Kong! Yay! Congratulations, Angela!
Despite all the hideous things that’s been happening in the world lately , Taiwan’s highest court’s ruling in legalizing same-sex marriage is such a welcome news especially for someone like me who’s also a part of the community who’s hoping that someday, the Philippines will follow suit in realizing that love is love no matter who you love. It’s gonna be a long shot for my country but Taiwan being the first territory in Asia to have marriage equality is a hopeful glimpse of what the future could be if we could just learn to accept each other. I don’t want to sound preachy, it’s just that I’m so damn happy about this development!
Here are some of my favorite photos upon the announcement of the ruling.
No matter how predictable this season has been so far, it’s still a surprise that Janny was sent packing after failing to impress the judges during the pen-ultimatum episode of the second cycle of the Philippines’ Next Top Model.
Janny has everything going for her at the start of the episode booking three out of four go-sees resulting to a challenge win rewarding her ten extra frames for their next photoshoot. A photoshoot which host and judge Maggie Wilson will be shooting herself. It was another beauty shoot and the ladies are void of anything but their glow in the dark make up and their ability to still stand out amidst their features being blacked out.
Adela’s photo is a vision in itself! It’s a beautiful make-up editorial that can be seen in any fashion magazines. I won’t be mad if Adela end up winning this whole thing.
I liked Angela’s photo but as Rafa said regarding Ina’s “best shot,” this for me is another art piece and not an editiorial shot. I honestly don’t see that much of a difference between her photo and Ina’s shot..
On a side note: Angela is obviously the ‘chosen one’ and I’d definitely bet my money on her. If TV5 and the other sponsors will have a say on who should win, I’m gonna say it’s a toss-up between her and Adela with the latter having a slighter edge but if it all boils down to the judges – Angela has it in the bag.
Ina’s photo is not the best, IMO, but again – it wasn’t as boring as Janny so I kind of agree with her being in the bottom with Janny. I’m just glad she made it through. She’s one of the strongest models in the house and it’d be such a shame if she don’t get to walk the runway in the finale. Unfortunately for her, it looks like she’s getting the runner-up edit.
During the credits, a sneak peak of the Top 3 was shown with them shooting a Meg Cover with resident judge Rain Dagala. I thought Adela killed the BTS and I’m excited to see the final results. My initial thought is that this isn’t Ina and Angela’s kind of magazine. They’re just too high fashion for Meg. Meg is like Seventeen Magazine and Adela is just perfect for it. So let’s see how this would play out to Adela’s advantage.
This isn’t the chosen photo of Janny in the show. ‘Will update this once they posted it.
