In Photos: The Binibining Pilipinas 2014 Winners First Press Conference!

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to see up-close the newly crowned Binibining Pilipinas queens as they were presented to the press people at the Balay, Araneta Center. I could say that this batch is truly something from the runners-up to each and every crowned winner. They all have their own aura that set each other apart. The event was also attended by the Queens of 2013 who gave their message of support and encouragement to the new title holders.

I wasn’t able to ask any questions because they mainly focused on the bigger media peeps. So let me just share with you some of the pictures I took from yesterday’s event.

Miss Philippines Bea Rose Santiago Wins Miss International 2013!!!

Bea Crowning Moment

Just like what I predicted, Bea just added another honor to our country as the newly crowned Miss International! I knew it the moment she was crowned during the national pageant! We’re so proud of you Bea!!

Miss International 2013!

Miss International 2013!

Congratulations Bea!!

My Miss International 2013 Final Predictions!

A couple of days from now, Ikumi Yoshimatsu of Japan will crown her successor and the new Miss International in the culmination of¬† one of the “Big Four Pageants” in the beautiful country of Japan. With that being said, 67 girls are having a blast exploring Japan – Tokyo in particular where the pageant will host its finals at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Hall. And as per usual, I will let you see my final predictions in a Christmas- themed list this time ūüôā

13-1515. Lorena Hermida of Colombia – Colombian’s beauty are always the ones to watch out for in this pageant. Their last win was the historical win of Jeymmy Vargas becoming the first delegate of color to win the said pageant. This time, they are sending an exotic beauty and a top 15 isn’t impossible of a task for her.

14. Chonticha Tiengtham of Thailand РAnother stunner from Thailand. After their successful bid at the recently concluded Miss Earth 2013 where Punika Kulsoontornrut was proclaimed Miss Earth Water,  the Thai delegation hopes to keep the ball rolling ending the year with a bang. Chonticha is a beauty Рreal oriental beauty!

13. Andrea Neu of the United States Of America – I love Andrea. I think her beauty is a very interesting one. The country does not really send strong delegates in this pageant but I think Andrea has what it takes to make the semis.

10-1212. Katarzyna Oracka of Poland is yet¬† another stunning goddess from Poland. This country has been very consistent this year in sending beyond beautiful delegates but for some reason, they are leaving each pageant crown-less. I hope Katarzyna could end this “curse” but if she end up entering the semis – that’s not bad at all then.

11. Carmen Munoz of Dominica Republic – I love how she’s always looking fresh in every photo ops. She’s just 21 and her youthful vibe could end her vying for one of the 15 precious slots in the semis.

10. Araceli Carrilero Mart√≠nez of Spain is a shoo-in for the semis. This Albacete native does know how to work the camera and charm the locals. I won’t mind if she places higher than a semifinalist.

7-99.¬† Ashley Beth Perez of Puerto Rico – In the mold of Monic Perez and the mystery of Bodine Koehler, I see a beacon of hope for Puerto Rico. She’s a Miss International prototype and this kind of beauty won’t be wasted here.

8. Lucero Montemayor of Mexico – The organization has some kind of adoration to every Mexican delegates and this babe won’t be an exception.

7. Cristina Alves Da Silva of Brazil – Another favorite of the organization. I placed her at 7th because I feel that they are looking this year for personality and she’s a bit quiet for me. Let’s see…

4-66. Eleonore Lilja of Sweden and 4. Sigr√ļn Eva √Ārmannsd√≥ttir of Iceland – c’mon now. Who could resist the beauty of these two? They may even snatch the crown, I dunno why they’re at my 4th and 6th place – perhaps I just don’t want to jinx them. LOL

5. Eli√°n Herrera – She’s a Miss Venezuela. End of discussion.

1-3

2nd Runner-up – Nathalie den Dekker of the Netherlands – I love this girl! I was even rooting for her during the Miss Universe 2012 and I think she’s ready to grab¬†one¬†of the crowns this year! I’m glad she didn’t give up right away.

1st Runner-up – Elma Segzdaviciute of Lithuania. Now if there’s one girl who’s becoming a threat for the crown, it has to be this girl. Elma is just 18 and her demeanor says so. After winning the Miss Photogenic earlier in the pageant, the target is now on her. Another Miss International prototype. If she’ll deliver come finals night¬† –¬† deal’s done.

And my Miss International winner this year (still my prediction peeps) is none other than my home-girl, Bea Rose Santiago! Bea by far is the most ready amongst the Binibining Pilipinas queens this year. And she’s the last one to have the opportunity to grab that one last crown for the Philippines (let’s discount the Miss Tourism International since it’s happening during the new year’s eve – _@)

Bea’s beautiful – CHECK! She’s articulate and smart – CHECK! She’s interesting – CHECK! She’s got the sash – CHECK! And interestingly, she was adjudged by none other than the President of the Miss International Organization during the Binibining Pilipinas coronation night so everything seems to be going in her favor. I’m not complacent though. An upset similar to what happened last year from Miss Japan could very well be the case for Bea – oh yeah and a really bad styling – ask Nicole Schmitz.

The Search Is On For The 2014 Binibining Pilipinas!

BBP 2014 is on

In the midst of Bea Santiago’s campaign in Japan to grab the fifth Miss International crown for the Philippines, the Binibining Pilipinas Organization just announced today the start of their search for next year’s Binibining Pilipinas queens. This year’s edition has been highly successful so far after the win of Mutya Datul in Miss Supranational, the semifinals inclusion of Cindy Miranda in Miss Tourism-International and the third runner-up finish of Ariella Arida in Miss Universe with Bea Santiago touted by pageant experts to place considerably well on next week’s Miss International finals.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to be the next Philippine rep in any of these pageants, then it’s your chance to be part of the elite group of Binibining Pilipinas queens and submit your application ASAP!

I don’t know about you guys but this doesn’t sit well with me – not at all. It could’ve been a great terno if only she removes the fan and the hideous head dress. I still believe in Bea though. She’s really doing well in Japan ūüôā

Exclusive : Bea Rose Santiago Is Very Ready To Go International!

Reigning Binibining Pilipinas – International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago is my favorite amongst the Binibining Pilipinas golden queens. Not only do I believe that she’s the most ready for her international stint, I honestly think that she could win the fifth Miss International crown for the Philippines! Here’s my short yet juicy online interview with Bea.

Can you tell us where you grew up and was it always your dream to become a beauty queen?

Bea:¬† I grew up in Cataingan, Masbate of Masbate City, Bicol then moved when I was 15 to Toronto, Canada. After watching Miriam Quiambao’s Miss Universe pageant, I started dreaming to grow up and become a beauty queen

Out of curiosity, do you carry dual citizenship having stayed in Canada for so long? I’ve asked this because I would like to know if you have tried joining Canadian beauty pageants before?

Bea: Yes I am dual. My 1st pageant was here in the Philippines 2011 (folks, she won Mutya ng Pilipinas Overseas Communities 2011 and represented the Philippines at the 2012 Miss Tourism Queen International becoming one of the finalists) I was a member though of a Can-Fil community of pageant enthusiasts who help me win my 1st national pageant.

Bea During Mutya Ng Pilipinas

You used to be a Model, which do you find easier ‚Äď being a model or a beauty queen?

Bea: Yes I was signed when I was 17, I find being a beauty queen a lot harder because you become the pride of your country. It is not just beauty and brains anymore because you become a role model, a person where everyone looks up to but also can also relate to.

What are the things that you are doing in preparation for the upcoming Miss International 2013?

Bea:  Well, Binibini gave us a lot of classes that keeps us busy and will help us win like personality development, fitness classes and language classes.

You are deemed as one of the front runners in this year’s Miss International edition and your name is always on the top 10 lists practically in almost every MI hot picks, do you feel any pressure from all of this? How are you handling the expectations?

Bea: In all honesty, I actually feel motivated and excited. the Philippines always makes headlines and I know they are all waiting for the Binibini’s this year.

Do you check out the MI representatives from other countries? If yes, who do you think would be your biggest competition?

Bea: From time to time I check it. Venezuela is my biggest competition because they won Miss International than any other country.

Given a chance to be dressed up by a Filipino designer for Miss International, Who’s it going to be and why?

Bea: If I were to be dressed by Filipino designers I would love to be dressed by Michael Cinco, Kim Gan, Rene Salud (dressed Melanie Marquez)  Francis Libiran, Carey Santiago and Albert Andrada.

Barely 3 months before the competition, how ready are you if the competition will be held tomorrow?

Bea: I’m very ready.

Who is your favorite Filipina beauty queen?

Bea: My favourite Filipino beauty queen is Margie Moran because she’s a beauty with substance.

Binibining Pilipinas 2013 – Its Golden Winners, History And Random Thoughts

It was aptly dubbed as the Binibining Pilipinas Gold as the pageant celebrates its 50th edition this year. With the finals night concluding last Sunday, the set of winners were announced with a unanimous approval from pageant fans and the likes.

Ara Arida MUP

24 year-old Laguna native Ariella “Ara” Arida was hailed victorious in white as she was crowned Miss Universe Philippines. I actually didn’t expect her to win the title because she played it under the radar for me.¬† I thought it was the highly favored candidates like Charmaine Elima or Maria Angelica De Leon would be winning the crown prior to the pageant night. Lo and behold, Arida stepped it up big time and sailed through the pageant night like she was really supposed to be there. She was hailed as the best in swimsuit which easily catapult her to the semis (being called first) and she totally nailed the question and answer thus giving her the Miss Universe Philippines crown. A totally deserved win!

Bea Rose Santiago International

Bea Rose Santiago’s win was expected. When she glided into that stage that night – I was just waiting for the results and see her head with a crown. After the question and answer, I thought she would end up winning the Miss Universe Philippines title. I was happy though that she bagged the Binibining Pilipinas International title. I have a feeling that she will¬† be the country’s 5th Miss International winner! The girl has got it all¬† – beauty, body and brains!

Cindy Miranda BBP Tourism

Joanna Cindy Miranda was one of the¬† crowd’s favorite that night. She was a sight to behold in pink! She was a steady player last Sunday, did good in swimsuit and evening gown round and gave a fairly good answer during the question and answer portion when she said the one word that describe her is “UNSTOPPABLE.” She was indeed unstoppable that night. Congrats Cindy for winning the Binibining Pilipinas- Tourism!

Mutya Datul BBPSupra

Mutya! Oh Mutya! Where did you get those lovely eyes? I predicted her to win the Binibining Pilipinas Supranational and she did! Mutya was the face of the evening! Her¬†pasarela was perfect and she glided through that stage in swimsuit and evening gown with ease! I thought she would also win the swimsuit category along with the best in evening gown award! She was truly a “Mutya” that night! Her answer during the Q&A was decent. She made an effort to answer the question in English (which she isn’t comfortable at all) and she didn’t falter anywhere in that answer! It was short but precise. Yes, her accent may be a little funny but she was a natural! We all know that it’s her weakness but she didn’t show it and she made it all the way to win one of the crowns! I initially thought that they would give her the MUP title but I am now thinking that the judges made the right decision because she could REALLY WIN the first Miss Supranational for the country – it maybe a minor pageant but it’s growing!

Pia Wurtzbach Runner Up

Lastly is the lone runner-up of this edition, Pia Wurtzbach. This feisty lady was touted to win either the Universe or International title but the other four are just stronger. The good thing about her winning runner up is that she could comeback next year until she turned 26.

Rounding up the Top 15 are (in order) #45 Imelda Schweighart, #34 Grace Yann Apuad, #13 Charmaine Elima, #43 Rhea Nakpil, #46 Amanda Navasero, #22 Ellore Noelle Punzalan, #12 Camille Carla Nazar #31 Maria Angelica De Leon, #25 Merry Joyce Respicio #33 Parul Shah.

Ms PAGCOR – #45 Imelda Schweighart

Best In Evening Gown – #39 Mutya Johanna Datul

Martin Nievera and Dawn Zulueta were the main host of the evening and previous queens Shamcey Supsup and Venus Raj are their co-hosts! It was overall a great show! I LOVED the first part when atleast 60 of the past pageant’s queens came together for the very first time on one stage and of course, the tribute to the National Director and owner of Binibining Pilipinas Madam Stella Marquez Araneta was really oh-so-touching! It was the first time that she went center stage in the 50 years of the pageant! Last Sunday was truly historical – that golden age of¬†Binibining Pilipinas!!!

My Binibining Pilipinas 2013 Top 15 Final Hot Picks!

After some careful deliberation, looking at all the pictures and watching all of their videos, most importantly seeing them live in action (during their fashion show a while ago) – I finally was able to come up with the 15 girls whom I thought should advance to the semifinals and win the coveted 2013 Binibining Pilipinas crowns come Sunday night!

My Top 15 Final Hot Picks!

My Top 15 Final Hot Picks!

My Miss Universe Philippines 2013

Binibini 13 Charmaine Elima

Binibini 13 Charmaine Elima

CHARMAINE ELIMA (13)

Charmaine easily became a favorite the moment she submitted her application. This Cum Laude from Sienna College has been consistent all through out the competition. Her beauty won’t be ignored wherever in all of seven continents. Her universal appeal and calm demeanor catapult her on top of my list thus having the edge over 49 other girls. As I’ve said, it’s the MUP title or nothing for her.

My Binibining Pilipinas International 2013

Binibini 31 Maria Angelica De Leon

Binibini 31 Maria Angelica De Leon

MARIA ANGELICA DE LEON (31)

Maria Angelica or Mariel’s beauty is without question a unique one for a Filipina. This celebrity daughter may not be the cup of tea of everyone but her mere facial beauty could easily toppled most of the girls in the competition. Mariel would go on to win one of the crowns and that is with certainty – and by her own merit, of course!

My Binibining Pilipinas Tourism 2013

Binibini 19 Hannah Ruth Sison

Binibini 19 Hannah Ruth Sison

HANNAH RUTH SISON (20)

Hannah could easily win the Universe or the International sash had Maine and Mariel not entered this year’s competition. This title may not be the most prestigious one but winning one of the crowns, nonetheless is already a big honor.¬† Miss Sison is pure class and just smart enough to clinch one of the title, I believe. After she went down on my second to the last hot picks, my faith in her got revived believing that she’s after all a deserving queen for the golden edition!

My Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2013

Binibini 39 Mutya Johanna Datul

Binibini 39 Mutya Johanna Datul

MUTYA JOHANNA DATUL  (39)

I figured Mutya with her perfect face and figure would go on to win the rights to represent the Philippines at the Miss Supranational where mere beauty and presence is what matters most. Mutya is perfect for that pageant because no pageant in the world would ignore such beauty!

My Binibining Pilipinas 2013 Top 15 Second Hot Picks!

From my initial Hot Picks Рa couple of girls went up and went down on the list,  and some were kicked out  with other girls taking their places.

Ria Rabajante who placed 15th last week didn’t make it on my second to the last HOT PICKS along with Shamcey Supsup deadringer Angel Villafuerte who’s comfortably placed at ninth last week. So here are my second Hot Picks – a week before I post my final prediction.

Binibini 13 Charmaine Elima's still holding on to the top spot! Is she really THE ONE?

Binibini 13 Charmaine Elima’s still holding on to the top spot! Is she really THE ONE?

Charmaine is continuosly dominating the competition. This Filipina Barbie‘s consistency came from her local pageant experiences and it shows in everything she does within the competition. She is THE ONE at this stage to snatch the Miss Universe – Philippines and the crown is her’s to lose.

Binibini 31 Maria Angelica De Leon has arrived!

Binibini 31 Maria Angelica De Leon has arrived!

Maria Angelica De Leon or Mariel is the biggest threat to Charmaine and a SERIOUS THREAT for that matter. From just a celebrity daughter when she first submitted her application to a supergoddess today – her transformation is nothing short of spectacular.

Binibini 39 Mutya Datul PERFECTION Personified!

Binibini 39 Mutya Datul PERFECTION Personified!

Mutya is a perrenial Top 5 favorites of pageant afficionados and the likes. You cannot ignore this kind of beauty. Her weakness maybe speaking in English but whoever said that you cannot win a crown by speaking the vernacular??! Mutya can do a Czarina Gatbonton come finals night and she may even win the most coveted crown.

4564th – Pia Wurtzbach
5th – Merry Joyce Respicio
6th – Hannah Sison

Pia went up from number eight to number 4 and that is because she truly stepped up this week. Merry Joyce’ consistency maybe a foreshadowing of her place come finals night and I’m still hoping the best for her. Hannah was second last week but her armor suddenly got weak! She needs to step it up for the last week leading up to the finals to seal her destiny to one of the crowns.

7897th – Bea Rose Santiago
8th – Joana Cindy Miranda
9th –¬† Parul Shah

Bea just went down a notch but she’s still a sure placer for me. Cindy on the other hand went from number 14 to top 8 and that is saying something. She may not be a favorite to win the Miss Universe Philippines but Cindy could easily snatch the other crowns from the front-runners! Parul who placed 10 last week is at number 9 now and I’m not sure what to make of her at this time – it seems like she’s losing her steam! This girl is Minorka Mercado V2 and she must use that advantage!

10111210th – Merce Grace Racquel
11th – Christina Love Paula Bernasor
12th – Anna Fernandina Buquid

I took notice of Merce when I read about her bio and watched some of her videos. This girl has got potentials! She may even be the dark horse of this competition so the girls should really watch out for her. Paula Bernasor on the other hand is up from 13th to 11th. She is my sentimental favorite you guys and I’m just really a fan of her beauty. I’ve a feeling as well that she’d make it in the semis! Anna Fernandina Buquid’s been hyped since she applied and she’s worth the hype if I may say. It’s just too bad that she’s too raw for this pageant! But hey, she may surprise us next Sunday though.

13141513th – Maria Sofia Gloria Mustonen
14th – Cassandra Naidas
15th  РVania Valiry Vispo

Sofia’s mesmerizing facial beauty is undeniable that is why she’s part of this list. You cannot also ignore the unique look of Cassy Naidas. And lastly, Valiry Vispo’s enigmatica aura was placed on my Top 20 last week and I’m glad that she stepped it up this week completing my Top 15 second hot picks!

Any comments or violent reactions? Haha. Who are you top bets to win the coveted Binibining Pilipinas crowns?

My Binibining Pilipinas 2013 Top 15 First Hot Picks!

As the finals night of the Golden Anniversary of the Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant is fast approaching, predictions are bubbling all over on who will be wearing the three crowns (official as of now) come April 14.¬† There are 50 lovely ladies who are fighting to the finish to wear any of the crowns for the right to represent the Philippines in the international beauty arena.¬† With that being said, may I present my Top 15 hot picks at this stage of the competition. This may still change as we approached the finals or after the preliminary but we’ll see…

Binibini 13 Charmaine Elima

Binibini 13 Charmaine Elima

Charmaine Elima or Maine so far is the most consistent girl in the pageant. She’s got all the goods goin’ for her. The looks, the body and that oh-so-universal appeal. She just need to maintain her pageant stamina to keep the top spot from the other girls. It’s either the¬†Universe¬†or nothing for her.

Binibini 19 Hannah Ruth Sison

Binibini 19 Hannah Ruth Sison

At first, I didn’t notice Hannah but she suddenly became one of¬† “the one to watch out for” girls by continuously improving towards the big night¬† and girl’ is doing it at the right time if I may say.

Binibini 31 Maria Angelica De Leon

Binibini 31 Maria Angelica De Leon

Mariel’s look may not be your typical beauty queen look but she’s got an elegant and unconventional beauty that I feel would hit overseas. I’m betting on her to win the International title (at this stage) but let’s see if Christopher de Leon’s daughter could pull an upset come finals night.

4. Mutya Datul, 5. Merry Joyce Respicio 6. Bea Rose Santiago

4. Mutya Datul, 5. Merry Joyce Respicio 6. Bea Rose Santiago
