I actually liked this evening gown because it suits Ara’s styling here. It’s not that flattering on the torso but I’d say Ara carried it so well.
a beauty shot indeed!
Now, this has got to be one of her best photos in the competition! Ariella looks stunning here and I love that our girl’s gaining momentum as the final’s fast approaching! She’s totally killing this shot! Great job Ariella!
From the moment that she sets foot in Russia, Olga Strorozhenko of Ukraine dazzled me with her sizzling sex appeal and undeniable x factor. This girl is bringing it and if she continue what she’s doing now, I could definitely see a European being declared the brightest star in the Universe.
2. Puerto Rico Monic Perez
She’s a favorite of mine from the very beginning and post arrival – Monic’s being oh-so-quiet that’s why I didn’t feel much from her this week. She’d bounce back, though, she has a very tough competition for the crown now.
3. Vietnam Truong Thi May
Just how did I miss this exotic beauty from Vietnam??!!? That sincere smile, those bone structures and beautiful long body! Oh my! She’s my new Whulan! Definitely someone to look out for! If this was 2008, Vietnam may have won the crown!
4. USA – Erin Brady 5. Russia – Elmira Abdrazakova 6. Israel – Titi Yitayish Ayanaw
7. France – Hinarani de Longeaux 8. Bolivia – Alexia Viruez 9. Poland – Paulina Krupinska
For those of you who are curious to watch the lastkinda controversial interview of our very own Miss Universe delegate Ariella Arida, here’s that full segment of ANC’s Headstart by Karen Davila where she asked Ara about pageant related topics, different current events (pretty tough!) and some questions thrown in by the peeps from twitter.
If I’m being honest, I love how blunt Ara was during this interview. She may not be very eloquent in English but I love how she’s able to send her message across. She’s sweet and feisty at the same time and I kinda liked it! Maldita lang ang peg! Haha
And man’ what a very big transformation! my oh my, she looked insanely divine here! She’s now a major competition and the pageant world knows it! Keep it up Ara!!! I am supporting you 100% and we (the Filipino people) are behind you all the way! Mabuhay ka! #forthephilippines
Here’s our girl Ariella aka Ara as she introduced herself to the world via her Miss Universe profile. It’s pretty impressive actually.
Ara via missuniverse.com
Her profile says: Ariella Arida graduated with honors from the University of the Philippines with a degree in chemistry. She is fascinated with different cultures and has a love of learning, and advocates for educating the young. In the future, Ariella aspires to become an entrepreneur, and merge her love of chemistry and research to create her own fragrance line. Since her childhood, Ariella has always had a competitive, determined and hardworking spirit.
IN HER OWN WORDS: The Filipino resiliency, and our ability to be positive despite all odds is something that my country can be proud of.
FUN FACTS ABOUT HER:
Creative and inquisitive as a young girl, Ariella would make various sweets from herbs and sell them to her classmates in grade school.
Ariella one forced herself to learn how to drive stick shift for a job in just five hours, without ever driving a car before in her life.
Ariella can tell the composition of any chemical compound by simply glancing at it.
She should be leaving today for Russia and I know that she would deliver so let’s hope and wish the best for her. Good luck Ariella!
Monic Perez of Puerto Rico is reigning still as my Top Pick for this year’s Miss Universe crown!
1.Puerto Rico‘s undeniable charisma and sex appeal keeps other girls from claiming the top spot from her two hot picks in a row now. Every single chance I had, I am checking forums, blogs and just plain searching and Monic as I see it is the most consistent. This girl’s the one to beat at the moment!
2.Erin Brady is an upgrade from last year’s winner and the reigning Miss Universe Olivia Culpo. Had Brady won the Miss USA crown last year, everyone will be at peace at the loss of Janine ( myself included) at last year’s Miss Universe (but let’s move on LOL). Erin is tall, feisty, charming and has a great personality. A back to back win is not far-fetched but it’s kinda risky 🙂 *wink*
3. Olga Strozhenko of Ukraine remains to be one of my favorites. This girl is pure class and elegance in the real sense of the world. ‘girl doesn’t have a bad angle!
4. Croatia’s Melita Fabecic will be a surefire hit in Russia. She’s young and was declared the most beautiful woman in Croatia and she’s European! She’s got everything going for her!
5. Whulandary Herman of Indonesia is probably the best Indonesian delegate to represent Indonesia in any international beauty pageant EVER! This girl’s a freaking supermodel! If an Asian could win this pageant if it is to be held tomorrow, hands down – she’s got it in the bag!
THE REST OF MY TOP 15 ARE
6. Russia – Elmira Abdrazakova
7. Israel – Yityish Aynaw
8. Dominican Republic – Yaritza Reyes
9. France – Hinarani de Longeaux
10. Venezuela – Maria Gabriela Isler
11. Peru – Cindy Mejia Santa Maria
12. Poland – Paulina Krupinska
13. Philippines – Ariella Arida
14. Brazil – Jakelyne Oliveira
15. Italy – Luna Isabella Voce
Facially, I think that Ariella’s the strongest amongst the winners of this year’s Binibining Pilipinas Gold because she’s not too “pretty” and she has that good quality of being able to change her look with just minimal help (make up, photoshop and all.) That being said, our girl still need to work it out to find her right styling and learn her angles to be able to stand out in the bevy of international beauties come Miss Universe finals night on November 9 in Moscow, Russia.

Ara had her send-off yesterday at the Araneta Center and she did not disappoint. Our girl is finally in it to win it! She know she had such a big task to accomplish in Moscow and I’m glad she’s goin’ there in full gear – what she need now is a big HEART to win it all and ofcourse our prayers for her to capture the elusive third Miss Universe crown!
Wow! I just saw the picture below posted by his handler Jonas Gaffud on instagram and I am officially sold by our girl Ara! Her styling was just perfect! She’s got the right body (not voluptuous – more like Jesinta Campbell – Miss Australia 2010 and Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes) and man’ she’s so rocking it!
Ara during her send off party today
Doesn’t she look ravishing? She actually kinda reminds me of Hannah Sison here (a 2013 BBP Gold contestant.) I think she’s gonna wow everyone in Russia! Go Ara you can do it!
Everyone is still ecstatic about Mutya Datul’s win in Belarus, and Filipino pageant fans all over the world are abuzz about the upcoming Miss World 2013, where our very own Megan Young is considered one of the front runners, possibly giving the Philippines a back-to-back international title. On the sidelines, the ever-so-watched and most beloved international beauty pageant in our country, Miss Universe (considered the most prestigious), isn’t making much noise—even our very own Miss Universe Philippines, Ariella Arida, who will be competing in Moscow in November to hopefully continue our country’s three-year Top 5 streak in the pageant, isn’t getting the hype. We all know that Ara has a very tough mission to accomplish, and at the moment, not everyone is happy about her progress. I would like to think that it’s a strategy on her part to keep a low profile prior to the pageant, but the pictures bubbling up every now and then are producing polarizing opinions from Filipinos and non-Filipino pageant fans alike.
Let’s take a moment to rewind and trace the evolution of Ara’s appearance, beginning with her first participation in a national pageant, Miss Philippines Earth 2012. Ara represented the Municipality of Alaminos, Laguna, during the 2012 edition of Miss Philippines Earth, but unfortunately, she didn’t secure a win. Nevertheless, Ara exuded a radiant freshness during her time in the competition—though her physique might not have been as toned back then, her facial beauty was already remarkable!
Why she didn’t make the cut, I honestly don’t know.
Ara looking so glorious in white!
I believe that in 2012, Ara didn’t exude the same flirty vibe she showcased during this year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
Now, fast forward to this year’s Binibining Pilipinas: Ara remained somewhat under the radar during the Binibining Pilipinas Gold edition. I found myself favoring heavy favorites like Elima, De Leon, Datul, and even Apuad over her, and she didn’t even make it into any of my hot picks—which leaves me pondering. Am I perhaps biased, or simply overlooking her? I suppose it’s a bit of both. However, after witnessing her live performance at the Araneta Coliseum, Ara skyrocketed to the top of my hot picks—almost like a zero-to-hero transformation. On coronation night, she proved exceptional, and in hindsight, she may have been the most consistently outstanding contestant throughout the entire competition.

Glamshots it is!
Sporting a more toned body
Now, that is what I call non-stop perseverance from her. Despite not winning any titles or awards during the 2012 Miss Philippines Earth, she still gained valuable experience that would catapult her to the most prestigious national beauty title: Miss Universe Philippines.

Let’s now look at the present Ara
(NOW) Ara with Minimal make up 🙂

Here’s Ara now. Are you loving her tan?
In your opinion, is she improving, or is she undergoing a Benjamin Button transformation, where she isn’t getting any better? In my honest opinion, I believe our girl is steadily progressing. Despite the presence of numerous super-goddess delegates in this year’s Miss Universe edition, I trust the team behind her—who have nurtured Venus, Shamcey, and Janine—won’t settle for anything less. There’s something she is keeping from us; I can sense it in my bones. Let’s rally behind her and give her all the support she needs. Good luck, Ara! FOR THE PHILIPPINES!

It was aptly dubbed as the Binibining Pilipinas Gold as the pageant celebrates its 50th edition this year. With the finals night concluding last Sunday, the set of winners were announced with a unanimous approval from pageant fans and the likes.
24 year-old Laguna native Ariella “Ara” Arida was hailed victorious in white as she was crowned Miss Universe Philippines. I actually didn’t expect her to win the title because she played it under the radar for me. I thought it was the highly favored candidates like Charmaine Elima orMaria Angelica De Leon would be winning the crown prior to the pageant night. Lo and behold, Arida stepped it up big time and sailed through the pageant night like she was really supposed to be there. She was hailed as the best in swimsuit which easily catapult her to the semis (being called first) and she totally nailed the question and answer thus giving her the Miss Universe Philippines crown. A totally deserved win!
Bea Rose Santiago’s win was expected. When she glided into that stage that night – I was just waiting for the results and see her head with a crown. After the question and answer, I thought she would end up winning the Miss Universe Philippines title. I was happy though that she bagged the Binibining Pilipinas International title. I have a feeling that she will be the country’s 5th Miss International winner! The girl has got it all – beauty, body and brains!
Joanna Cindy Miranda was one of the crowd’s favorite that night. She was a sight to behold in pink! She was a steady player last Sunday, did good in swimsuit and evening gown round and gave a fairly good answer during the question and answer portion when she said the one word that describe her is “UNSTOPPABLE.” She was indeed unstoppable that night. Congrats Cindy for winning the Binibining Pilipinas- Tourism!
Mutya! Oh Mutya! Where did you get those lovely eyes? I predicted her to win the Binibining Pilipinas Supranational and she did! Mutya was the face of the evening! Her pasarela was perfect and she glided through that stage in swimsuit and evening gown with ease! I thought she would also win the swimsuit category along with the best in evening gown award! She was truly a “Mutya” that night! Her answer during the Q&A was decent. She made an effort to answer the question in English (which she isn’t comfortable at all) and she didn’t falter anywhere in that answer! It was short but precise. Yes, her accent may be a little funny but she was a natural! We all know that it’s her weakness but she didn’t show it and she made it all the way to win one of the crowns! I initially thought that they would give her the MUP title but I am now thinking that the judges made the right decision because she could REALLY WIN the first Miss Supranational for the country – it maybe a minor pageant but it’s growing!
Lastly is the lone runner-up of this edition, Pia Wurtzbach. This feisty lady was touted to win either the Universe or International title but the other four are just stronger. The good thing about her winning runner up is that she could comeback next year until she turned 26.
Rounding up the Top 15 are (in order) #45 Imelda Schweighart, #34 Grace Yann Apuad, #13 Charmaine Elima, #43 Rhea Nakpil, #46 Amanda Navasero, #22 Ellore Noelle Punzalan, #12 Camille Carla Nazar #31 Maria Angelica De Leon, #25 Merry Joyce Respicio #33 Parul Shah.

Martin Nievera and Dawn Zulueta were the main host of the evening and previous queens Shamcey Supsup and Venus Raj are their co-hosts! It was overall a great show! I LOVED the first part when atleast 60 of the past pageant’s queens came together for the very first time on one stage and of course, the tribute to the National Director and owner of Binibining Pilipinas Madam Stella Marquez Araneta was really oh-so-touching! It was the first time that she went center stage in the 50 years of the pageant! Last Sunday was truly historical – that golden age of Binibining Pilipinas!!!
