Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 Episode 3 Recap!

“I don’t want this competition to change me to someone I’m not” – Jesslyn.

So apparently, Jess is naturally evil. Lol. Kidding.

(Spoiler Alert!) I guess, I am just happy that she finally got the boot. Oops!

Bye Jess!

The episode this week was quick, fun and very interesting. The girls were in an Insta-race challenge where they would go to three assigned locations in Bangkok and each group will take Instagram-worthy photos with their Subaru car. Remember that Subaru will definitely have a say on who will eventually win this whole thing!!!

Thai rep Pim was paired with Vy and Jach and they did really well, it helps that Pim could easily asks the locals to help them. The group end up winning the challenge and had a fine dining dinner as their prize! Yasss! Slay that budget AsNTM! 😂

Another confrontation transpired with Jesslyn instigating it against Mia (yep, it’s Mia vs the Loud Girls Round 2) about being “human” and “friendship”. Really Jesslyn? I can see you all the way from where I was watching. It was just horrible. I am very disappointed with Jachin on how she took this situation. With Pim, she was the mastermind from last week’s Mia’s diary debacle so I’m not really surprised.

For the shoot this week, they have 2 props that may or may not overpower them – dogs and a Subaru car.

My favorite was Vy’s shoot. She was effortless and she looks absolutely divine during the shoot!

Struggling to get in the mood are Han, Beauty and Jesslyn. Sometimes, I feel that language barrier derails some of the girls.

At panel, the remaining girls looks absolutely wonderful. Can I just say, once and for all that Beauty is the most stunning model this cycle? I mean, that face is cosmetic brand-perfection!!!! She is indeed BEAUTIFUL!!!❤

Glenn Tan of Saburu is one of the judges and he adores Mia’s shot and gave her photo a perfect 10. Now, eat that Jesslyn! Hah!

Mia getting vindicated!

The ‘quiet girls’ pretty much had their vindication tonight with Mia and Vy getting the top 2 spots! Yay!!!

Dana and Jesslyn (3rd time in a row) found themselves in the bottom two and ultimately, the judges decided that Jess wasn’t cut for this competition! Yasss!!! So glad they got rid of the drama queen! Now the real competition begins!!!

Pim

Adela

Jachin

Vy

Dana failed to impressed!

Han

Rubini

Do you agree with the first call out: Mia and the eliminated contestant: Jesslyn this episode?

Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 Episode 1 & Episode 2 Recap

Over the weekend, I was finally able to completely watch the first two episodes of the new season of Asia’s Next Top Model and so far, I am loving the models and the first two photoshoots.

There are initially fourteen girls vying for the title and two were promptly eliminated after their selfie-runway challenge. I really find that unfair, to be honest. They weren’t even given a chance to show what they’ve got!

It’s also interesting to note that the model mentors this cycle are three of the finalists in the earlier seasons of the show – Shikin and Minh Tu from Cycle 5 and Monika from Cycle 3! I’m not particularly convinced with these three but they would do. It looks like this one is going to be a very quick cycle.

The first episode requires them to posed with 3 kind of reptiles (an Iguana, a python and a baby crocodile). Some of them easily pulled it off while others are freaking out!

Beauty nailed this shot! Look at that face!!!

Most Favorite: Beauty, Jach, Mia
Least favorite: Adela, Jesslyn

Sharnie Fenn (Japan) got the lowest score in the challenge end up going home with her mediocre photo.

The second episode was the makeover episode. Nothing drastic for the girls. There’s the usual crybabies (me rolling my eyes at Adela’s pronouncement that she’s too cute with her hair).

The catfight also started brewing when Pim discovered Mia is keeping a diary with all of the contestants name in it. I liked Pim at first but what she did here was inexcusable. She’s actually the one who started the drama with Jesslyn and Mia. What a bitch.

Episode 2 photoshoot was shot in pair and I absolutely loved the black/white swan concept! I absolutely adore Jach’s and Mia’s photo! So far, I think they are my favorite!

Jach sitting like a kween!

Most Favorite: Jach
Least favorite: Jesslyn

Eliminated: Iko (Indonesia)

I think it’s safe to say at this point that they’re simply keeping Jesslyn for the drama. I hope she goes home next. Ta!

Review: Netflix’s La Casa de Las Flores (The House of Flowers) Season 1

La Casa de Las Flores (The House of Flowers) is one of the latest original Netflix series offerings – a telenovela set in Mexico City which follows the lives of the de la Mora family members and their web of dramas that started when Roberta committed suicide by hanging herself inside the House of Flowers.

First, just who the heck is Roberta? At the pilot episode, it was revealed that she’s the mistress of the head of the family (Ernesto de la Mora played by Arturo Rios) whose lies he’d kept for years started catching up on him. The story is also conveniently narrated by Roberta herself, ala Desperate Housewives.

La Casa was marketed as a dramedy series with a twist. Yes, there are a lot of twists in it – mostly predictable twists. What it lacks, though in originality, it makes up for its charming cast and diverse characterizations.

There’s Virginia de la Mora (Verónica Castro) whose world turned upside down upon learning about the deceit of her husband and eldest daughter, her middle child’s black boyfriend and her youngest son’s homosexuality. It’s a full buffet for Virginia but as the ‘real’ patriarch of the de la Mora family, she’d make sure that no-one and nothing in the world would ever break them as a family.

Then there’s the eldest de la Mora sibling Paulina (Cecilia Suárez). Paulina cracks me up like no other with her accent. She’s the character that you’d either hate or love because she’s a total nutjob and a total badass too!

Elena (Aislinn Derbez), the middle child meanwhile came home to Mexico from taking her masters in New York to announce her engagement with her black boyfriend Dominique. Elena just seemed like the bimbo of the series until she found herself in a sticky situation with her almost half-brother Claudio (Lucas Velazquez). Claudio’s character creeps me out a bit, tbh.

And speaking of bimbo – we’ve the youngest, the unico hijo of the de la Mora familia cum fickle minded, bum-fuckboy but definitely super adorable Julian (Dario Yazbek Bernal). Julian is the sunshine of this series. He’s annoyingly charming and adorably frustrating. Add to the fact that he’s in the closet, has a sexual relationship with a girl and is in a secret relationship with their family’s financial advisor, Diego played by the tall, dark and handsome Juan Pablo Medina. Julian and Diego’s subplot seems to be winning the internet with their power couple good looks and Julian’s puppy-like persona in the series.

The show is definitely a step forward and a mostly unique subplot from the usual telenovelas we’re used to as the show embraces diversity like no other. It may sound a tad campy but it’s actually hella entertaining. Its humor isn’t slapstick nor subtle but it’s there glaring from each characters’ story arc. If you’re looking for something stress-free amidst the political mind-game online and on TV (who still watches TV?), then this show is definitely your best option.

Creator: Manolo Caro
Cast: Verónica Castro, Cecilia Suárez, Aislinn Derbez, Dario Yazbek Bernal, Sheryl Rubio, Paco León, Juan Pablo Medina, Arturo Ríos, Claudette Maille, Lucas Velazquez, Sawandi Wilson, Sofía Sisniega, Luis de la Rosa, David Ostrosky, Natasha Dupeyrón, Alexa de Landa

ICYMI: Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 – Judges, Mentors and the Contestants!

After our very own Maureen Wroblewitz snagged the Asia’s Next Top Model title last year, the top reality modeling competition in Asia is back with the tagline – Beyond Limits!

Cindy Bishop will still be hosting the show and serve as a judge along with the show’s creative director Yu Tsai. The surprising part is the participation of Monika Sta. Maria (from Cycle 3), Minh Tu Nguyen and Shikin Gomez (both from Cycle 5) as the models mentors this season!

Fun fact about Adela – she’s actually the runner-up to Angela Lehmann on the second cycle of the Philippines’ Next Top Model. The revival of the show didn’t take off as expected but it was definitely a great learning experience for Adela for sure!

Kyla Coleman Wins America’s Next Top Model Cycle 24 Finale! (Reaction)

Kyla is victorious in blue!

To cap off this very disappointing season, 20-year-old Kyla Coleman edged out returning contestant Jeana Turner and fan favorite Khrystyana Kazakova to win the title of America’s Next Top Model.

Robbed big time.

Never did I expect that Khrystyana will take the third spot. I mean, Kyla’s body of work in the show is mediocre at best compared with Khrystyana who has FOUR First Call outs and FIVE Second Best Photos that she’s literally on top of everyone else.

I am not taking this away from Kyla but Khrystyana’s third place finish is just beyond deplorable!

Jeana settled for a runner-up finish.

I am totally over of this show…at least for this year… *rolls eyes*

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 24 Episode 11 Photoshoot – Beauty is Personality

There are only five girls in the house vying for the title of America’s Next Top Model and at this point, it is pretty clear that season’s favorite Khrystyana is steering away from the rest of the girls. In all seriousness, at this point – I’ll be hella shock if Khrystyana won’t end up winning this. Sorry, boo, I do not read spoilers but seriously – this is Khrystyana’s title to lose.

For their challenge, the girls created personalized avatar for the new ANTM mobile game. Yup = I know what you’re thinking but let’s not go there. Khrystyana won the challenge tho so Yasss! Then they shot a music video with Maejor and Mama TyTy. I’d say I’m pretty happy with the elimination this episode. I mean, Jeana was possessed all throughout this session. Oops!

Anyway, this is all for nothing because Jeana came back in the next episode! BUT – she’s gon steal the place of one girl to be in the final 4!!!!

Jeana and Rio getting the real score from Mama.

Is this too much of a giveaway?

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 24 Episode 10 Photoshoot – Beauty is Real

Now that the Binibining Pilipinas 2018 season is finally over and the new queens have been crowned, I now have time to update myself with some ANTM stuff. I was able to catch last week’s episode but was too occupied to do a recap of some sort.

Anyway, just to give you a quick recap from the ninth episode – as you may already know, nobody got the boot since perceived frontrunner Brendi K decided to quit. Mind you, I’ve just read that she actually got arrested last January 28, 2018 on some sort of court violations. (didn’t get much of the details about her arrest tho 😦 )

Moving forward to the 10th episode – it was a predictable episode with Erin finally ending her stint because seriously, nobody expected her to last this long if we’re all being honest. I mean, I loved her but she was mediocre all througout the season.

This episode also created a subplot for Shanice to steal the whole thing from Khrystyana. And no, this isn’t a spoile. I just think that this is Khrystyana’s title to lose from the start.

The remaining six contestants did castings in Los Angeles for Chris Mena and Maggie Barry with Kyla and – surprise! – Rio winning the challenge thus getting the opportunity to walk their runway shows. Ugh. I just want Rio gone tbh. I am tired of her.

And what do you know? Nope. Rio actually got the best photo. I guess, congratulations…

Here are the cover try photos of the girls for Paper Magazine where the winner will have a fashion spread and of course, with Paper magazine chief creative officer Drew Elliott as one of the judges – they know how important this is.

First Call Out – Rio
2. Khrystyana
3. Jeana
4. Kyla
5. Shanice
6. Erin

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 24 Episode 9 Photoshoot – Beauty is Movement

This sort of recap of last week’s episode is kind of late but seriously, how many of you were disappointed with the turn of events? I would’ve thought that with the quality of her photos, she’s a shoo-in to walk the final runway but apparently, there really are a lot of things that we do not see in the show. [sarcasm]

Okay, so on with the show. Judge Ashley Graham and movement coach Jermaine Browne facilitated a motion shoot challege which was yet again won by Jeana. The girl is on a streak yeah?

For the shoot this episode, they were photographed with a huge paper parachute as their backdrop/props. This couture shoot is probably my favorite this season and again, the usual frontrunner (meaning Khrystyana) delivered the goods! Mama is here to win!

Khrystyana

Erin

I don’t like this shot of Erin. I find it all kinds of awkward if I’m being honest.

Rio

It’s a wonder why Rio is still in the house, don’t you think? No big conspiracy or some shit, but are they letting her stay just to annoy us? I mean, the girl takes mediocre photos and has a really bad attitude. Hmm…

Jeana

I kind of agree with the judges here when they sent Jeana at the bottom. This would’ve been a good shot if she did more shapes with her dress since the color is already very striking.

Kyla

I really liked this shot of Kyla. I mean, I loved her awkward pose and her face was okay with me. I would’ve put Erin in her place tbh.

Brendi K.

So she decided to leave the competition. Might as well not apply right? She could’ve given her slot to other girls. Oh well…

FIrst Call Out: Shanice
2, Khrystyana
3. Erin
4. Rio
5. Jeana
6. Kyla
Quit: Brendi K

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 24 Episode 8 Photoshoot: Beauty is Social

Were you completely shocked when this season’s frontrunner end up at the bottom two this episode? I mean, I call BS when they call her inconsistent! If anything, she is the only consistent model in the house delivering spectacular shot each episode! 🙄

If you’ve been watching the show but have not seen this episode, you probably have a clue on who almost got the boot!

Model Jordan Dunn made an appearance this week facilitating the challenge of advertising her clothing brand. And surprise! Jeana won the challenge…

At the photoshoot, Mama TyTy took over again and shot the girls with plus-size male models while covered in gold body paint.

Brendi K: I thought she’s playing it safe for weeks now. I want her to step up next week. This is SAFE. The guy is more fierce and he’s not even showing his face!

Erin: Uhhmmm

Jeana: Her face looks ethereal right here. Girl is in it to win it!

Kyla: Gurl finally woke up!

Rio: girl, I cannot wait to see you get the boot next week. *fingers-crossed*

Shanice: Not a fan of this photo but I loved Shanice!

Khrystyana: I loved this shot. It’s not my favorite but it’s not the worst for me. And the calling her inconsistent is again utter crap. Ekkk

Sandra – she finally bored the hell out of the judges. ByeGurl!

Call Out Order
First Call Out: Kyla
2. Jeana
3. Shanice
4. Erin
5. Brendi K.
6. Rio
7. Khrystyana
Eliminated: Sandra
