Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 2 Episode 8 – The Girl Who Makes a Splash

Eight girls remains with the competition getting in the nerves of most of the girls. Who’s that one girl who will keep her cool and rise on top this episode?

So far, three girls are getting consistent remarks from the judges for “always bringing it” in every shoot. Marie for one is having an impressive run with the most FCO’s this series thus far, followed by Nicole and Josephine whose pictures are getting rave reviews! Are the judges setting them up to be the finals three?

The challenge winner this episode was Tia (her second this cycle) winning a lunch date with no less than THE Jimmy Choo and they had their photoshoot at the beautiful and luxurious  Pangkor Laut resort with Chiun-Kai Shih as their photographer. (which somehow reminds me of the first cycle’s French Riviera‘s episode) The panel was joined by Andrea Fonseka, a former Miss Malaysia.

Jodilly

Jodilly

I love how Jodilly’s using her body here but her facial expression seemed disconnected somehow. I still like it though.

Josephine

Josephine

JoJo is back! A very strong shot from the most consistent girl this season! I love how she’s using her whole body to get a great shot!

Katarina

Katarina

Whilst I’m not a fan of this shot, I thought her profile looks absolutely divine! You cannot deny a beauty like Katarina. She’d do really well in beauty campaigns!

Marie

Marie

Well, what can I say? Marie’s totally bringing it! This shot is so dynamic and so powerful I could totally see it in any fashion magazine! Well done girl!

Natalie

Natalie

I really love this shot of Natalie. Unlike Marie, this shot does not require ferocity but softness and some intensity in the eyes. I see softness but not intensity! Still a great shot though!

Nicole

Nicole

Now, this has got to be Nicole’s worst photo to date. Her body look distorted and her face is unrecognizable. It’s fierce all right but I feel that it’s a bit forced.

Sheena

Sheena

Mighty Sheena is back! Thank you girl for bringing back the old you! This is smashing and you look like a tree nymph here! This is my favorite shot from the bunch! Amazing!

Tia

Tia

Being the shortest in the bunch, she really does look short here and her profile isn’t really that good. It’s time to pack your bag girl, it was a great run though.

Review: Gravity (2013)

via wikipedia

via wikipedia

During the film’s theatrical showing here in Manila last year, the film initially garnered mixed reactions from the audience. Some people totally loved it and some peeps are just plain disappointed. Now, re-watching the film, I find myself still enamored with the whole idea of Afonso Cuaron’s baby.

Gravity is a space thriller that allows us to travel into space and be trapped in it. Yes, along with Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) and Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney,) we the audience went to our first shuttle mission with Kowalsky as our guide and advisor. But you see, Kowalsky couldn’t save us as we’re all running out of oxygen and we’ve little chances of survival to begin with. Much to our disappointment, we aren’t even trained to do this unlike the two! Great! Just fucking great!!

You see, Stone was a medical engineer who’s been training at NASA with Kowalsky supervising her. Now, the good thing is, like us – this was her first mission as well. But due to some stupid crew from some space station I wouldn’t even mention, we’re screwed! Their nasty debris went to our direction and we’re left floating around the space hanging rather floating for our dear life. Oh and thanks to you Ed Harris – thinking of Apollo 13 made me even squirmed! Let’s switch places here please! This is our doom!

Now, Stone’s just being overly dramatic. No don’t move Stone. You’re still good. Save the oxygen pretty please. I love it that I couldn’t exactly guess what you are thinking now since I can see everything in your face alone! That is what I call great skill! Keep that up Stoney!

Oh shoot! Watch out you guys! Damn! Fuck! What the fuck was that?!!!! Run, I mean, hover or float or whatever! Watch out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, there’s the long awkward silence again.

I’m suffocating now, I mean’s where’s the sun and why is it all dark? Yes, Stone – I told you! You are not to say a single word! You’re only allowed one word per eight minutes! Yup, okay. You’re doing great  just now! Let’s keep this up. And Kowalsky, you’re the man. You know it.

Silence…

Silence…

And that my friend was the effect of watching the film,– Cuaron took us to a place where we are with the characters. It’s a spectacular creation from a genius imagination with the help of some technical whiz kids. Now, I can’t tell you enough how much I totally enjoyed watching this film. It’s literally mind boggling – in a sense that this couldn’t possibly be that good. I mean, how did Cuaron made this one??

Silence…

I’m just speechless.

Rating: 10 / 10

Director: Alfonso Cuaron
Starring: Sandra Bullock, George Clooney

*The film is nominated for 10 Academy Awards including  Best Actress, Best Director and Best Picture to name a few

Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 2 Episode 7 – The Girl Who is in the Spotlight

There are still ten girls running towards becoming Asia’s Next Top Model since last week was a non-elimination episode. This time around though, it’s going to be a lot harder especially for Janice and Tia who have to carry on with this episode’s photoshoot with frames lesser than the rest of the girls.

For this week’s episode, the girls were tested for their *acting skills* and during the challenge, half of the girls were immediately booted out and were to help the other half to win the challenge. They were paired together to create a night look hair which Sheena easily won and picked her fellow Malaysian Josephine to share her prizes.

The shoot this week was for TRESemmé, one of the main sponsors this cycle (as you may already know, the winner of this cycle will have the chance of becoming the face of one of TRESemmé’s 2014 campaigns.) Now,IMO this is an all important challenge because whoever gets the first call out here have a very good shot of landing at the Top 4 – the least. At the panel, the judges were joined by Asian popstar Coco Lee.

Janice

Janice

This isn’t working for me at all. If I’m being honest, she looks more than an actress than a model and she does look old at times. Sorry Janice, this is it girl.

Jodilly

Jodilly

I actually loved this shot!! Jodi’s face is a bit harsh at times that seeing her looking so soft this time around was refreshing!

Josephine

Josephine

I’ve a problem with the way her face photographed here. It made her look old but I love her body position.

Katarina

Katarina

Finally! Katja’s best shot to date no doubt! That face is flawless! I kinda wished though that she stretched her right hand more because it looks  a bit on a shorty side.

Marie

Marie

Don’t get me wrong, I love Marie but her picture doesn’t translate top model to me. She’s technically very good and knows her angle but it’s too studied in my opinion. Gotta love this shot though!

Natalie

Natalie

I’m not too crazy about this photo because it looks a bit dated but I love her face here!

Nicole

Nicole

She totally nailed this one!!! I’ve no doubt now that this Singaporean beauty is the one to beat at the moment. She’s tall, she’s high fashion and can be very commercial as well. Plus, her look is very NOW.

Sheena

Sheena

Sheena’s one of my favorite girls in the competition and I just love her consistency but she’ boring me for two weeks now.

Sneha

Sneha

Oh no, this is a total disaster! After an impressive shoot last week, she’s giving us this pose? It’s so not TRESemmé!

Tia

Tia

While I’m not the biggest fan of Tia and have wanted her to leave weeks ago, I feel that she’s giving us decent pictures and for that – she deserved to stay a week more.
