First day in Bali, Indonesia and it is just AMAZING! We did so much today already. We shot our profile videos, had auditions for Dances of the World and Talent Competition as well and ate LOTS of yummy food. I feel like I’m at home because the food here in Indonesia is similar to the food in the Philippines. Anyways, I just wanted to make my first post an #OOTD or “outfit of the day” picture. I’m wearing an Eric Delos Santos jumpsuit with Janina by Jul Dizon earrings. I wanted to keep my first outfit fresh and funky since we’re in Bali. I’m very, very excited for the coming days! – Megan

After all the brouhaha, the celebrity and super-goddess Megan Young representing the city of Olongapo was proclaimed the winner of Miss World Philippines 2013 tonight at the Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort and Casino! Megan beat out 24 other candidates for the right to represent the country in Indonesia next month for the annual beauty with a purpose pageant and the oldest for that matter, the Miss World 2013! Megan may not be successful in joining the Binibining Pilipinas this year but it was written in the stars for her to represent the Philippines in an international pageant arena – hopefully to win the first blue crown for us!

Megan Young Is My Miss World Philippines 2013!

It would be the biggest upset of the night if Megan will not get the crown of the Miss World Philippines this coming Sunday. Megan, touted to be the one with the complete package will compete against 24 other candidates for the chance to represent the country this September in the Miss World pageant to be held in Indonesia. Like what I mentioned on my first hot picks, if there’ll be no politics in choosing this year’s winner – hands down, Megan’s in it to win it!

The caliber of Miss Young is similar to those candidates hailing from the Latin pageant powerhouse like Venezuela, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Her communication skills is superb, she has an international appeal that would cater to anyone and her charm and confidence could win any judges’ approval.

Bianca2. Bianca Paz – I would give her the second best position because I feel that Bianca has been preparing for this ever since she won the runner-up position to Gwendolyn Ruais last 2011 during the first Miss World Philippines edition. It’s not a very lucky year for her because of Megan competing at the same time. It could’ve been a totally different ball game had she join last year or next year if she’s still eligible to do so.

Patricia 3. Patricia Ejercitado – this pageant veteran and Janine Tugonon’s batchmate during the Binibining Pilipinas 2012 is an adorable belle that won’t also be ignored by the judges. She looks fresh and more confident this time around and I can definitely see her winning one of the runners-up posts! Good luck Pat!

KC4.  Henna Kaizelle Nicole “KC” Cajandig  has proven her rights to be in the pageant. She became a filler in this year’s Binibining Pilipinas Gold edition after initially not making it into the final 50 and because of the disqualification of Maria Theresa Fenger but she bounced back from it, gained the experience from Binibini and is now the new candidate #1. KC is pretty, fresh and very much adorable…the camera loves here so I’m betting that the judges would love her as well come pageant night.

Janicel5. Janicel Lubina – This girl has got the beauty, the body and the X Factor that any beauty pageant would appreciate. It’s just too bad that, IMO she’s still a wee bit young and may not have the wisdom to carry her to the next level. Beauty-wise, she could compete internationally but she would have to hone her communication skills more. This girl is made for Miss Universe so crowning her or even the rumors spreading of Pre-selecting her as this year’s winner would be a big mistake! Let the girl gain some experience from this and have her join the Miss Universe Philippines pageant in a year or two!

My Miss World Philippines 2013 First Hot Picks!

A week from now, the new Miss World Philippines will be crowned and will have the task to win the first blue crown for the country. Twenty-six lovely girls are vying for the crown but only one can win the most coveted title. I was trying to do a Top 10 Hot Picks but I decided to just pick three girls whom I think had the strongest chances of making the top 3. This could very well change in a week’s time so I’d be posting the first one today and my final hot picks a day before the pageant. Here are my Top 3 Hot Picks!

Miss World Philippines 2013 – Megan Young (Olongapo City)

Why Megan? The 23-year old celebrity is still the one to beat in this competition. She’s the prettiest out of all the contestants this year and her presentation thus far is flawless. Let no politics be played and we’ll see Megan wearing the Philippine sash in Indonesia this September.

First Princess – Melanie Barret (Pampanga)

Melanie is a fresh face in the Philippines pageant circuit and I love that she’s raw but still ready to battle it out with the more experienced candidates. I love her mestiza look and her pedigree would surely catapult her on top.

2nd Princess – Bianca Paz (Taguig City)

Bianca’s trying it out for the second time after winning second to the first Miss World Philippines and eventual Miss World 2011 first princess Gwendolyn Ruais. She came ready to win the crown but I think she kinda lost her spark. I’m still waiting for her amazing performance on the 18th but for now, I won’t discard her into my top 3.

After an alleged attempt to join and be denied from the screening at the Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant held earlier this year, Actress Megan Young is now targeting the Miss World Philippines crown for a chance to represent the country to this year’s Miss World that will be held in Indonesia and win the first blue crown for the Philippines.

Megan is best know as an alumna of the now defunct star search StarStruck from GMA 7 and was also a  housemate at ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition 2 . She is currently a university student taking Digital Film Making at the De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde.
