Book Review: Tonight – Karen Stivali

TonightThis story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group’sLove is an Open Road” event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.

Here is the letter and a description of the photo that accompanied this prompt:

Dear Author,
See the hot jock sitting on top of me? He’s my older brother’s team mate and I’ve lusted after him— and loved him— since forever. I never thought I’d have a chance though. That dumbass brother of mine always said he was straight. But look at the way he’s giving the phrase “He takes my breath away” a whole new meaning! My brother must be wrong. Please, dear author, let him be wrong and make my dream come true.

Now this is really, really, like really good. This even surpassed the author’s Moments In Time trilogy because I feel that the characters here are more vibrant, more likable and the story was just smooth from start to finish. It would be great to have some more of Davey and Wiley in the future! It’s a quick read but every inch enjoyable! This is highly recommended if you want to get a feel of Miss Stivali’s writing style.

About The Author
Karen Stivali is a prolific writer, compulsive baker and chocoholic with a penchant for books, movies and fictional British men. When she’s not writing, she can be found cooking extravagant meals and serving them to family and friends, who never seem to mind the excessive quantities she tends to prepare. She attributes her ability to multitask to the fact that she rarely sleeps, which gives her more hours every day. Prior to deciding to write full time Karen worked as a hand drawn animator, a clinical therapist, and held various food-related jobs ranging from waitress to specialty cake maker. Planning elaborate parties and fundraisers takes up what’s left of her time and sanity.

Karen has always been fascinated by the way people relate to one another so she favors books and movies that feature richly detailed characters and their relationships. In her own writing she likes to explore the dynamics between characters and has a tendency to craft romantic tales filled with sarcasm and sexy details. Although she writes both m/f and m/m contemporary romance, all of her

You know that feeling when you have just experienced something magical, and it leaves you breathless for a moment, and when you close your eyes, and upon opening them again, it’s as if you can see clearer. That is how I would describe my experience after reading Fawn.

Let me tell you how I’m so in love with Rust’s character. He’s one of the most beautiful characters I’ve ever read and someone I wished I created myself. His characterization is almost otherworldly. Rust’s sweet innocence will put a smile on your face and will make your heartache when reality strikes him with its hate and grim.

Ancel on the other is no stranger to the real world. He is a representation of a lot of hurt souls. He’s that creature who’s looking for that glimmer of hope that will save him from darkness.

“I don’t need a chance at heaven. I just need a chance with you.”

This may be one of the best stories I’ve read in years. The poetic rendition of the author with the prompt left me yearning for more. It made me happy, and it made my heart ached at the same time. There’s just something magical about the author’s storytelling. This stirring narrative will bring you joy, will make you weep, and will make you remember it for the longest time.

And you don’t even have to buy it.

Nash Summers, thank you for this gift.

About The Author
Nash Summers rarely has any idea what she’s doing. But, when she likes to pretend, she pretends by writing stories at the pace of drying paint. And if that wasn’t exhilarating enough, Nash enjoys absolute silence, general politeness, and waiting her turn in line.
Needless to say—she’s a genuine hellraiser.
