Since the new BPI website launch, access to request an increase for your credit card limit is no longer an option. You would have to call their hotlines to request one.
Metro Manila: (all areas with “02” area code) 889-10000
Domestic Toll-Free No: 1-800-188-89100 (available for PLDT)
Mobile phone and International Access: +632 889-10000
So today, I called up their hotline to request an increase and was assisted accordingly, but that is after being on hold for 11 minutes.
The following is the information the customer representative asked me to create a report about the request.
1. Credit card number.
2. Your name, date of birth, Mother’s maiden name.
She asked me how much is my desired increase and the reason behind the request. I just told her that I would be traveling this holiday, and I feel that my current limit isn’t enough since I’m mostly doing my transactions online.
She then advised me that I would need to e-mail my payslips from the last two months and the latest COE stating my monthly compensation at email@example.com.
Once I sent the required documents, she said there would be a minimum of 5 banking days for verification and another 5-7 days on top of the first five days for the credit card department to process it.
I’ve sent the required documents earlier, and it’s the start of the waiting game today. I would update this entry if I were granted my desired request or how fast their process is.
UPDATE: I’ve forgotten to give an update on this one. My apology. So, it’s been over a year and I reckon that they still have the same process of requesting for a credit increase. They did grant my request after almost two weeks, I received an email as well as a text message about it. It was not my desired amount but I was glad that they still granted the request. Some of the people I know who are clients are BPI told me that the bank is really conservative when it comes to these things so I figured, yeah, I’m not too bothered. Just last year (2020), they automatically gave me an increase which was way bigger than my initial increase so I’m pretty happy about that. I reckon I should just wait for them to automatically change my credit limit this year.
