Book Review: Shawn’s Law – Renae Kaye

Shawns LawI love Renae Kaye! I mean, I seriously loved all of her books so far – Loving Jay, The Shearing Gun, Blinding Light, Safe in his Arms and now Shawn’s Law. It’s an amazing thing to see a new author who never falters after her first book and her succeeding works just keeps on getting better!

Shawn’s Law is about 29-year-old Shawn who takes care of his Alzheimer-ridden mother and is probably the clumsiest character I’ve ever read or just simply the universe’ victim of Murphy ’s Law – only they called it in the family Shawn’s Law. Oh, and he also got the hots for his neighbor Harlie aka Mr. Hippy-Hotpants who apparently returns the favor! Yay! But things didn’t go easy with our couple. Shawn’s afraid that “Shawn’s Law” will just put Harlie in danger so he broke up with him – this however does not mean that Harlie would give up the fight so easily.

As usual, the chemistry between the MCs was there! The humor was almost slapstick (figuratively & literally). Sometimes, some situations come off as way over the top but it was still fun to read. The whole point of this book is to make its readers laugh first and foremost. I’ve had so much fun reading its entirety which makes Renae Kaye one of my go-to authors for feel good reads. This is very highly recommended!

About The Author
Renae Kaye is a lover and hoarder of books who thinks libraries are devilish places because they make you give the books back. She consumed her first adult romance book at the tender age of thirteen and hasn’t stopped since. After years – and thousands of stories! – of not having book characters do what she wants, she decided she would write her own novel and found the characters still didn’t do what she wanted. It hasn’t stopped her though. She believes that maybe one day the world will create a perfect couple – and it will be the most boring story ever. So until then she is stuck with quirky, snarky and imperfect characters who just want their story told.

Renae lives in Perth, Western Australia and writes in five minute snatches between the demands of two kids, a forbearing husband, too many pets, too much housework and her beloved veggie garden. She is a survivor of being the youngest in a large family and believes that laughter (and a good book) can cure anything.
