Book Review: Bells and Balls (With A Kick, #4) – Sue Brown

Bells And BallsAs the fourth book in the With A Kick series shared by Sue Brown with Clare London, Bells and Balls will tickle your romantic and funny side with the very sweet and fun story delivered in the most adorable way!

With no plans over the weekend, Rob Barker found himself babysitting for his five-year-old niece he barely knew. Instead of following the list given by his Nemesis (sister-in-law) on how to go about his day with his niece, he decided to take her to With A Kick. There, a children’s party is being held and they got lucky when its owner decided to let them in despite it being closed for said event. Rob’s weekend suddenly became interesting when the party’s Father Christmas handing over presents happens to be his sexy redheaded teammate that he had been lasting for ages now. When Mick reciprocated Rob’s interest, things started to heat up and turn serious but first – they both need to come out from their very deep-end closets.

I totally adore Rob aka Barking and Mick aka Headcase. They are two big, brawny rugby guys who got the hots for each other. I loved the simple premise being all so sweet and funny at the same time. I also loved the easy acceptance from both sides of their families. For a short read, it is very difficult to create characters with very dynamic backstories. Sue Brown yet again delivered with this one. It’s obviously a holiday read but also intended for a year-round reading. This series is really, really good and highly recommended.

About The Author
Sue Brown is owned by her dog and two children. When she isn’t following their orders, she can be found plotting at her laptop. In fact she hides so she can plot and has got expert at ignoring the orders.

Sue discovered M/M erotica at the time she woke up to find two men kissing on her favorite television series. The series was boring; the kissing was not. She may be late to the party, but she’s made up for it since, writing fan fiction until she was brave enough to venture out into the world of original fiction.

Book Review: Hissed as a Newt (With A Kick, #2) – Sue Brown

Hissed As A NewtHissed as a Newt is the second book off the With A Kick series shared by Sue Brown with Clare London. Now, the story started when David stumbled upon a drunken clown as he walks to With A Kick, his favorite ice-cream shop. He was about to turn a blind eye when he overheard the clown mumbling about his cheating boyfriend. For reasons unknown, David decided to take the clown with him inside With A Kick where he finally met Stan underneath the tear-streaked make-up. Over ice-cream, they shared each of their woes and found out they actually have a lot to talk about.

I just really loved how cute the whole setting of the story was. The idea of With A Kick was terrific and it was a great backdrop to David and Stan’s first meeting as they drown their sorrows over their love life and career. Stan is such a lovely character that it is hard not to fall for him right off the bat. His career as a clown suited him so well because he seems like an eternally happy person despite his initial reaction towards his cheating ex and best friend. Similarly, David’s all-around passionate persona as a writer complemented Stan’s exuberance.

This one is another great read from Sue Brown and anyone who enjoys short, feel-good reads will get a kick out of this!
