Zac Posen is one of the youngest and most prolific designer of our generation. Inborn with passion for fashion, young Zac interned with fashion designer Nicole Miller when he was on his sophomore year at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn. After graduating from high school, Posen was mentored by Richard Martin at the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and by 18, he was accepted at London’s Central saint Martins College of Art and Design.

He had his big break when he made a dress for supermodel Naomi Campbell. At age 21, he had his first collection as part of the GenArt’s Fresh Face in Fashion New York. Sheer talent brought him connections and awards most notably the Swarovski’s Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2004.

Some of his clients includes Hollywood Heavyweights Natalie Portman, Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and Rihanna among others…

In Focus: Marc Jacobs

At a young age of 15, Jacobs already worked as a stockboy at Charivari, a clothing botique in New York City. He then studied at Parsons The New School for Design which gave him accolades such as the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award, Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award and Design Student of the Year Award –all in the same year of 1984.

Jacobs designed his first collection for Reuben Thomas, Inc., and eventually began designing for Perry Ellis after the demise of its founder. In 1986, he designed his first collection bearing the Marc Jacobs label and the following year was awarded the Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent, which is the fashion industry’s highest tribute given by The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)

1997 was the year when Jacobs was appointed Creative Director of luxury French fashion house, Louis Vuitton creating the company’s first ready-to-wear line.

In April 2010, Jacobs was included in  TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Her Fashion Muses includes celebrity designer-fashionista Victoria Beckham, Actressess Kirsten Dunst,Wynona Ryder, Dakota Fanning and director Sofia Copolla – her number one  muse who starred in ads for both Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton label.

On a personal note, Jacobs who is openly gay has been married with Advertising Executive Lorenzo Martone that didn’t last for a year.
